Alhambra Letterpress Invitation

Our Alhambra invitation design comes to us courtesy of Jori Jackman at Seaside Papery in Coronado, California. The invitation was custom designed for an event at The Prado in San Diego’s Balboa Park which is known for it’s flamboyant Spanish Colonial style architecture.

One of the things I always recall about The Prado is the gorgeous hand painted tile work throughout the restaurant, and also in the outdoor courtyards and magnificent Moorish style fountains surrounding it. We were naturally delighted to have the opportunity to incorporate some of the gorgeous tile details into this inspired invitation. We used a distressed fill on the aqua blue arch that frames the invitation wording to lend a vintage feel that ties in perfectly with the retro script typeface. Also the fresh palette is one of our personal favorites. Enjoy!

These Are a Few of Our Favorite Sites

It’s a busy day today at Dauphine Press, we’re wrapping up the week and heading out to spend time with our mothers far and wide.

To end a beautiful week, we wanted to share a few of our favorite websites from the standpoint of inspired design and clever content. In no particular order:

French General This Los Angeles purveyor of rarified textiles, notions and millinery finds makes us feel like we’re at a Parisian marché aux puces. Can’t get enough of their website? They now offer workshops in their Los Angeles studio as well as New York {at Tinsel Trading} and Stillwater, Minnesota. Can’t get there? Their decor, jewelry, entertaining and craft books and their lovely range of stationery is available through Chronicle Books.

Astier de Villatte This site has been around since 2007, but it continues to visually enrapture and inspire us. Transport yourself to the atelier of this gorgeous Parisian porcelain artisans on the rue Saint-Honoré. Pick a card, any card…

Castle in the Air A true gem of a store on Fourth Street in Berkeley, California, this whimsical website invites you to take a stroll down a medieval lane with stops built in along the way. If you can’t get there in person, you can still experience some of the magic through their online portal.
