Suite Spotlight – Kentfield Letterpress Wedding Invitation Suite

Here in Northern California it’s been a few weeks since we’ve seen any rain. In fact, there’s been just enough sunshine to start wearing open-toed shoes. We know there is more winter weather in store, but it doesn’t keep us from daydreaming about spring. Today’s inspiration board, highlighting our Kentfield suite, is not only a reflection of this gorgeous letterpress printed suite, but it’s also a reflection of what’s in our hearts knowing that spring and even more sunshine are just around the corner.

Our Kentfield design is perfect for the romantic couple. Whether your venue is outdoors like scenes from our inspiration board or in a dramatic ballroom, the floral design surrounding the text and frame adds a soft touch. Letterpress printed in our buttercream and metal inks, this combination gives the illusion that the French engraving cuts and timeless typography are sitting atop a bouquet of begonias. Each card incorporates the same design elements, but each in a unique way to add interest to this enduring design.

The 85th Academy Awards

Here at Dauphine Press we are constantly looking to fashion as a source of inspiration for our designs. It’s no surprise that we all enjoyed last night’s 85th Academy Awards. We are always hoping to inspire you by sharing what inspires us, so today we’re sharing our list of best dressed from the red carpet.

Stacy Keibler looked beautiful in a glittering right-off-the-runway look, while Jennifer Garner took a softer approach in her custom gown by Gucci. Nominated for Best Actress, Jessica Chastain embraced old Hollywood glamour in her custom Armani Prive gown. While presenting, Sandra Bullock absolutely sparkled in her sheer embroidered Elie Saab gown.

Our top dressed actors kept things classic and timeless with tailored suits and bow ties. Ben Affleck, Channing Tatum and Bradley Cooper all kept with the three-piece trend, while Daniel Day-Lewis chose a dapper navy look.

Art Deco and metallic were the lead trends of the evening and we are looking forward to seeing how these fashions will translate to wedding stationery with foil embellishments, letterpress on metallic papers and fine, intricately detailed motifs. These looks had us dreaming up new color palettes for our Hamilton, Belvedere and Stinson suites.

Designer’s Pick – Leavenworth

Recently we introduced a new series here on The Fine Print – our Designer’s Pick posts. We are very fortunate to have a team that brings creativity and spirit to their work and is invested in providing each client with a truly custom design. Through these regular posts, our designers will be choosing their favorite suites to share with you.

One of my favorite Dauphine Press designs is Leavenworth. I remember when it was being created and how much I enjoyed its modern simplicity. The letterpress printed sans serif fonts paired with the graphic border reminds me of the refined typography of museum exhibits. I also appreciate that it is one of our bolder save the dates, which makes it perfect for the stylish couple looking for a timeless and sophisticated design for their wedding stationery.

Our Leavenworth design is one of many about to be posted to the gallery section of our website. Keep an eye on our website as the number of suites is about to triple!

Store Spotlight – Magnificent Milestones

We know we’ve said it before, but one of the biggest perks of working at Dauphine Press are all of the amazing retailers we get to work with every day. Today’s Store Spotlight highlights one of our favorites, Magnificent Milestones in Chicago, and specifically owner Kara Gordon, who is one of the main reasons we make that statement so often. We love working with Kara and the custom designs she and her team send our way are top notch! Last month, Magnificent Milestones held a Dauphine Press trunk show so you can bet you’ll be seeing the results here on our blog — as soon as the suites are printed and the couples are wed, we will share them with you!

In the meantime, we wanted to introduce you to Kara so we asked her a few questions about her and her business:

1. The beautiful studio | 2. The team | 3. Samples for the trunk show | 4. Sweet treats from the trunk show | 5. Giveaways for the trunk show

What inspired you to open Magnificent Milestones?

After college, I quickly realized that the corporate world wasn’t the right fit for me. In my particular situation, my role was lacking creative freedom, excitement and … color. I started designing invitations on the side and in very little time, my focus was set on opening my own invitation studio. It has been a fun and colorful ride ever since.

What did you do in your life before Magnificent Milestones?
I worked in the marketing department of a large international law firm. The environment was far too serious for me. I designed invitations and ads for the firm. But –like I mentioned above– everything was black and white, and it was hard to get attorneys excited about their next speaking engagement. Working with brides and grooms is the complete opposite: you work with so many different styles & color palettes and their excitement is off the charts. I love it!

When did you first realize that you had a passion for paper?
I enjoyed making things with paper at a very young age. I went through phases of paper snowflakes and scrapbooking before entering the world of luxury wedding invitations.

What inspires you?
Literally everything. I try to look at everything in a different light: food at the grocery store, the ways things are displayed at a boutique, colors that I see on a walk around the neighborhood. Inspiration is in everything.

What trends are you noticing/loving in wedding stationery?
We are seeing a lot of gold, mixing of patterns, oversized invitations and calligraphy-like fonts, which just happen to be some of our favorites!

We hope you enjoyed meeting Kara! She is part of our extended team and responsible for so many of the great custom designs we share with you through our blog. As we reveal more and more Client Customization posts through the season you’ll be sure to see a lot of them coming from Magnificent Milestones. Here is a sneak peek of some of the gorgeous letterpress and foil designs we have created with Magnificent Milestones and will be profiling on The Fine Print very soon.
