Happy Holidays from Dauphine Press

We love the holidays for all of their visual beauty — the sights and sounds of the season, the decorative gift wrapping, all of the event planning with family and friends gathering around a perfectly set table! But, most of all, we love the way the holidays bring on a time when everyone is reflecting on the year past, dreaming about a bright future and wishing all of their family and friends the very best!

All of us at Dauphine Press are very excited for what 2014 will bring … and especially what Dauphine Press will bring to you! We couldn’t do it without all of our amazing retailers and the beautiful couples we have the pleasure of working with every day. Thank you so much for sharing in this journey with us!

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Cloverdale Letterpress Invitation – New Design Customization

Are you starting to see a theme here? Can you see how looking at a few of the design details that make up every wedding invitation, and swapping them out for your favorite combination, results in a brand new design — one that is unique to you and your event?!

Today’s new design, our Cloverdale customization, includes a graphic detail that we love using and we’re very excited to show on a wedding invitation and in a tonal color palette. On the original, the pool blue colored border appears to be a solid block of color from a distance, but if you look up close, you’ll see that it’s so much more than that! Backing up a little … we often get requests for large, solid areas of color, and the truth is, with letterpress that just isn’t the ideal fit. Our design team found a solution in our Cloverdale design. Using the fine cross-hatch pattern in the borders means that the end result is a nice, even area of color. Plus, the added benefit is that fine detail. Everyone we know picks up a letterpress printed card to take a closer look and feel the impression — what a treat to find that fun little detail!

Dauphine Press Wedding Blog Post - CLOVERDALE

Where the original inspiration suite is casual and modern, using the cross-hatch pattern on the new customization created an elegantly subtle look that we always see couples loving for their invitation. How fun would it be to pair these two, in the same color palette, as part of a full wedding stationery wardrobe with the inspiration design as the save the date card and the new customization as the invitation. Ooh! And, please let us dream up fun new ways to use this detail on menu cards, place cards, etc.!

OK, enough dreaming! Back to this new design and the few changes we made to create a brand new design:

Ink Palette: Changing the ink palette on any design is one of the most notable ways to personalize your suite. Simply choose colors from our letterpress inks that match the palette you are using in the rest of your decor and you’re on your way to a suite that is uniquely yours. With our Cloverdale customization, we switched the original pool blue and charcoal gray to cantaloupe and tobacco. Both versions use a neutral and a pastel to really make the most of this design. That pastel is key to making sure the large areas of color in the cross-hatch border act as a frame for the most important information on your wedding invitation.

Motifs, Borders and Patterns: On this new design, the same border and pattern were used, just in a different way! This is a great tip! If you love a design, but want to make it your own, just think about how your favorite details can be used in a different way. Taking the same details and putting them on the larger card have completely transformed this design. Changing the format of the card, from horizontal to vertical, also instantly tells a new story.

Fonts: As you know from our previous posts, fonts and typefaces can be a very personal choice. We have a large selection to choose from, so you can really have fun with this element. We have fonts that range from casual to very formal. The fonts on this new design customization lean towards formal with the bulk of the copy in an all-caps font {Garamond} and the highlighted text in a traditional script {Carolyna}.

Embellishments-Banner

Beyond our custom elements, you can also add on any number of embellishments. You can see all of the details available in our online Design Library or in-person when you visit one of our Exclusive Retailers. Our Cloverdale customization features a combination of embellishments to complete this look:

Colored Paper: To achieve the tonal look we wanted to create with this design, the first choice was our pretty peony paper stock to compliment the cantaloupe letterpress ink. We have a large collection of colored papers in our Design Library for you to choose from. And, if you don’t see a shade that matches your palette perfectly, just ask us, we can always complete a search for the best match! Tip: we do always struggle to use the word “perfect” when it comes to color since we feel that very often “complementary” colors can be much more beautiful than an exact match. Don’t worry though, along with our Exclusive Retailers, we’re happy to help you select the perfect combination!

Luxe Board Duplexing: Just like last week’s Broadmoor design, we chose a duplexing option for the colored paper on this design. Cloverdale features our Luxe Board Duplexing, which is our thickest option, and includes two sheets of the peony paper adhered to a super thick board in the middle. Note that the board in the center is white and will show a layering effect at the edge of your card. Some clients love that look and others want to take advantage of that nice thick surface and add our next embellishment …

Painted Edges: Painted edges were the finishing touch for this new design customization. Painted in our Tobacco ink to match the letterpress printed copy, this new design is complete! Remember, we have shades to match all of our letterpress ink colors!

We created our Custom Wedding Portfolio process with every unique couple in mind. We, ourselves, would expect to personalize our wedding invitation suite, so we wanted to create a process that allowed every bride and groom to do the same. It’s also designed to be fun! We encourage you to scour our website {don’t forget to check out our Search By Style feature} and meet with the experts at your local Dauphine Press retailer to get their guidance and input. Once you do, you’ll be well on your way to creating your very own custom letterpress wedding invitations!

A big thank you to Engaged & Inspired for helping us debut this new design! Take a look at Allison’s favorite new designs of ours, including a sneak peek at another “custom recipe” we have coming up here on The Fine Print.

Personalized Letterpress Note Cards and Note Pads on Frontgate

We are thrilled to share with you two new Dauphine Press stationery items we created through our partnership with Frontgate! Now available through their catalog and website are personalized letterpress note cards and note pads! We often hear the feedback that clients wish we would create products beyond letterpress wedding invitations, and thanks to Frontgate, we were able to make this happen! Take a look:

Dauphine Press - Frontgate Stationery

Designed and printed to order by our team, these two items can be personalized and make the perfect gift {gifts for yourself count too!}.

The note cards are printed in a silver letterpress ink on premium cotton paper and come in a set of 25 cards and 25 lined envelopes. The versatile monogram on the folded, A6 size card is paired with a fashion-inspired, chevron-patterned envelope liner. The single letter monogram is the perfect gift for a bride-to-be since we all know that being blessed with showers and gifts before the wedding means that you must have gorgeous stationery on hand for all of those thank you notes!

The note pad cover, printed in a decor-inspired Greek-key pattern in classic, bold black, includes a rectangular die cut revealing the name of the owner in a traditional serif font. The name is carried throughout the entire notepad featuring 100 bright white sheets of cotton paper. The “icing on the cake” with the note pad is that they are sold in a set of four, and the name on each can be different, which makes these the perfect gift idea for a bridal party — for the ladies or the men!

So, for all of you paper lovers out there that have been looking for the perfect stationery item to add some luxury and pretty to your every day — we hope these fit the bill!

Broadmoor Letterpress Invitation – New Design Customization

Today we’re sharing another brand new design customization with you! This design made a complete transformation and is definitely a crowd favorite!

As we mentioned last week, these new design customizations are fun for us to share since they all illustrate exactly how far you can take your own wedding invitation suite when using our design process. Through these new designs we are sharing how a few changes, changes that make a design uniquely yours, allow you to present your guests with a wedding invitation to an event that they just can’t wait to attend. Yours!

Our Broadmoor design customization was selected as a favorite by Tracy at The WeddingLovely Blog — and can you blame her?! Take a peek at the before and after. The inspiration and the customization.

Dauphine Press Wedding Blog Post - BROADMOOR

In our Custom Wedding Portfolio albums I and II, we have outlined the steps for transforming any design in our gallery into your custom suite. We’re sharing a list of elements from our design team that make our new Broadmoor design customization unique. You can use any of these details to customize your very own suite.  Here are a few things to consider:

Custom-Elements-Banner

Ink Palette:  We have a secret to share … the letterpress ink run was removed when we created this new design! The original was 1-color letterpress + 1-color foil and for the customized invitation, we just chose to use one foil run. This means that by only using foil on the new design, the overall cost was decreased! Another tip: the new design could also be printed in just 1-color letterpress {any color in our ink palette}, which would bring the price down even further.

Motifs and Monograms: In this case, the one design element that really ties the inspiration to the customization is the monogram at the top of the invitation. The slim #10 card is the perfect way to highlight your monogram, and a monogram is the perfect way to highlight your new union! We chose the fonts and design elements for both of these monograms separately, so feel free to browse our library of motifs and frames to create the perfect symbol for you as a couple!

Fonts: As you know from our post last week, fonts and typefaces can be a very personal choice. We have a large selection to choose from, so you can really have fun with this element. We have fonts that range from casual to very formal. For our Broadmoor customization, we went for a “traditional with a twist” feel using a classic script font for the names of the bride and groom, but in all lowercase to update the look.

Embellishments-Banner

Beyond our custom elements, you can also add on any number of embellishments. You can see all of the details available in our online Design Library or in-person when you visit one of our Exclusive Retailers. For our Broadmoor customization, we chose just one embellishment upgrade to really make this design standout:

Traditional Duplexing: The striking peacock blue paper used on this customization is a true star and will surely have your guests excited to attend your wedding! We have many colored papers to choose from and three different duplexing options: Traditional, Elegant and Luxe. The three options represent a different weight and thickness. The Traditional Duplexing chosen for our Broadmoor customization is two sheets of the peacock blue paper adhered together so that the card presented is like a thick board.

Citron Letterpress Invitation – New Design Customization

We have some exciting news for you, our stationery design and letterpress loving friends! Over the next few weeks we will be releasing a bundle of new design customizations on our website! We love that we get to create new designs every day and we are excited to share some of the latest with you!

The main reason that we are beyond thrilled to share these new customizations is because these designs really illustrate exactly how far you can take your own wedding invitation suite. Through these new designs we will share how a few changes, changes that make a design uniquely yours, allow you to present your guests with a wedding invitation to an event that they just can’t wait to attend. Yours!

There are so many options to consider and we know that sometimes too many options can be just that — too many options! With these new designs, we wanted to outline a short list of elements you may want to consider when personalizing your wedding wardrobe.

We collaborated with some of our {and your!} favorite wedding bloggers to debut their favorites from our new collection, so hopefully you have gotten a preview already! Our Citron customization was a favorite of the amazing duo over at Ritzy Bee Blog.

Dauphine Press Wedding Blog Post - CITRON

In our Custom Wedding Portfolio albums I and II, we have outlined the steps for transforming any design in our gallery into your custom suite. Here’s the list of elements from our design team that make our new Citron design customization unique. You can use any of these details to customize your very own suite.  Here are a few things to consider:

Custom-Elements-Banner

Paper Color: In the case of this Citron customization, the paper color was changed from our brilliant white letterpress stock to our natural white letterpress stock to warm up the overall look. Often couples choose their paper color based on the shade of the bride’s dress.

Ink Palette: Changing the ink palette on any design is one of the most notable ways to personalize your suite. Simply choose colors from our letterpress inks that match the palette you are using in the rest of your decor and you’re on your way to a suite that is uniquely yours. In the side-by-side visual above, you can see that we changed the espresso, leaf and buttercup combination in the original to apricot, celadon and charcoal to coordinate with the new orange motif and also soften the palette a little.

Motifs and Patterns: Here is where you can really start getting creative! You can see that with the Citron customization, swapping out the original lemon motif for the orange motif really changes the guests’ expectations for each event. To  keep what you love about any inspiration piece in-tact, it’s always a good idea to choose a similar motif, like the lemon and orange, and use it in a similar way to make sure that your new design has the same amount of impact!

Fonts: Fonts and typefaces are a very personal choice. We have a large selection to choose from, so you can really have fun with this element. We have fonts that range from casual to very formal. Script fonts are often used for more formal events. We hear from brides and grooms all of the time that they often choose a font based on whether or not they like the way their {new!} initials appear in a certain font. So be sure you check out the entire alphabet!

The best part about all of the elements outlined above is that they are all complimentary with our Custom Wedding Portfolio program. You can change any of the details above and you will not see any additional charges since we feel that these are elements that every couple will want to change so we made sure that doing so doesn’t impact your budget at all!

Embellishments-Banner

Beyond our custom elements,  you can also add on any number of embellishments. You can see all of the details available in our online Design Library or in-person when you visit one of our Exclusive Retailers. We chose just a couple to dress up our new Citron design:

Painted Edges: Painted edges were a fun detail we added to the new design customization. That extra touch of color allows you to extend your color palette to the edge of the card. We have shades to match all of our letterpress ink colors!

Paper Weight: We chose our double-thick letterpress stock for the new design, which really highlights the edge painting. With the thicker card there’s more surface area on the edge to showcase the added color.
