Before and After – Custom Occidental Invitation Suite

We have a fun visual for you this week. We wanted to show you a side-by-side comparison of an invitation from our Custom Wedding Portfolio and the custom design it inspired.

Our original Occidental letterpress wedding invitation suite is regal and formal. The large format card incorporates a design that highlights the thick cotton paper with a tactile, all-over letterpress pattern in a neutral color. Balancing the subtle pattern is a stately monogram and delicate script in a deep blue.

Wanting to emphasize the detail in the lace-like pattern, we reconstructed it as a decorative border on the custom design (right). Printing the new border in a deep jewel tone turns it into a focal point and frames the details of your special day.

Turning the background pattern into a border also allowed us to print this new design in one ink color. This impacts your budget {in a positive way} and also keeps this suite feeling traditional.

Ultimate Eye Candy – New Lookbook Pages!

Here at Dauphine Press we are all about two things – high end print techniques and custom design. In the past couple of weeks we have been highlighting a bunch of our favorite new print techniques, but today we want to talk about custom design! Every couple deserves a unique wedding stationery suite. No matter how simple they say they want to keep things initially, every couple ends up putting in many hours on all of their wedding details, big and small.

One of the most important elements is getting guests to your big day and conveying the right feel for your festivities. The design of your wedding stationery is a very important step. At Dauphine Press, we set out years ago to create an experience for all brides and grooms to do just that – create their very own, unique look without having to spend thousands with an independent designer. Using the Custom Wedding Portfolio Design Library, thousands of options are there for you to use at no additional charge.

Our albums include a carefully curated collection of design created by our design team. When creating these designs we take many things into consideration – a true Dauphine Press look, making the most of our print techniques and wedding trends. Even though we take the time to pull these designs together, it is always our expectation that couples will change *something* on our designs. Often times though, couples may be nervous about making those changes since it can be tough to visualize. With our new lookbook pages, all of that worry is gone.

Sitting side-by-side with each suite in our album are hundreds of additional ideas from our design team to help you create the perfect suite for your wedding and special event. There are changes big and small shown. We show everything from changing ink colors and fonts to swapping out print techniques and adding backers, duplexed colored papers and edging. This new tool also provides a visual for a range of budgets, showing that a 2-color letterpress and foil design in the album can easily be switched to 1-color letterpress – and that the results can be equally as stunning.

You can view all of our lookbook pages by visiting any of our exclusive retailers or visiting the gallery section of our website.

As you can see, these new lookbook pages not only add 400+ new designs to our Custom Wedding Portfolio, but they also provide an immense amount of inspiration. Each design in our gallery has a link to view the additional pieces in the suite & the customized variations in the suite. Enjoy!

Customize your suite – with foil stamping!

With each new custom design element we feature, I’m tempted to say it’s my favorite and our newly refreshed foil palette is no exception. Every wedding deserves a little sparkle, but for couples who aren’t looking for traditional silver or gold — our new colored foil options are the perfect fit.

When we launched foil stamping in May 2011, we started with a traditional palette. Over the past year+, foil paired with letterpress has become very popular here at Dauphine Press. This year with the addition of our new colored foil options {not to mention how fabulous they are with our new duplexing options!}, we can’t wait to see all of the customizations you come up with. So far we’ve shown you modern colored foil paired with intricate motifs and patterns for the perfect balance of romantic and modern in our Hamilton and Fairfield designs (back patterns pictured above), but are you ready for monochromatic modern elegance?  Keep a lookout for our next blog post too — we’ve saved the most talked about design for last. We know you’ll love it and we can’t wait to see how you customize it for your extraordinary event.

With the addition of the 14 new fonts below, we now have a total of 140 beautiful typefaces that you can choose from.

You have already seen a few of these in action in our latest new design posts. Our new Calistoga suite is a beautiful showcase of Piel and Fairfield artfully displays Carolyna. One thing both of these fonts have in common is a hand-lettered feel, which is something we are getting a lot of requests for lately. Calligraphy style fonts are a great way to bring that hand-lettered look in to your suite, without the cost of true hand calligraphy.

Have you picked a favorite yet? If so, any of the design consultants at our exclusive retailers can help you pull your wedding stationery suite together.

Customize your suite – with colored papers & NEW duplexing options!

Along with our recent new design posts we are also sharing with you more details on the new embellishments each new design showcases. Our latest new design, Fairfield, is printed on our new Luxe Board duplexed stock. Today we’re sharing with you everything you need to know about duplexing our colored papers.

All of the colored papers in our Design Library (a total of 37 different colors) are available as duplexed stocks — and in three different thicknesses. Here’s a great visual showing all of the options!

Note that our thickest option, our Luxe Board with the 30pt board mounted between two colored sheets, does show the white board (as seen in the image above) so we do recommend painted edges with our Luxe Board option — unless the white suits your aesthetic. The choice is yours!

As we mentioned last week, colored papers pair perfectly with our new opaque inks and foil {more to come on our expanded foil palette!}. Contact your local Dauphine Press exclusive retailer to see all of these options in person and to start designing your own custom suite!
