As we mentioned in our recent post on our new Calistoga suite, with our 2012 update, our Custom Wedding Portfolio includes a refreshed color palette!
We have 19 new letterpress inks, making a total of 68 colors available! Since colors vary from screen to screen, we recommend visiting one of our exclusive retailers to see and touch the true swatches before placing your order, but here’s a glance at the range:
Within the full palette are 14 opaque letterpress inks, all with a slight shimmer. Our opaque inks have a subtle sheen and are ideal for printing on colored papers & envelopes. Please note that the only inks in this section available as edge painting are black, silver, gold & copper.
Our opaque inks are the perfect match for another new custom detail highlighted in our 2012 update — duplexed colored papers — which we will be sharing even more about over the next week. We’ve been hard at work testing our new letterpress inks on the colored papers available in our line. Here’s a sneak peek of some fun test swatches hot off the press!
Also, we now offer edge painting to match any letterpress ink color! That means you now have 5 times the options to choose from! Are you getting as excited as we are about all of the amazing new ways to bring color into your next print project?!
Last but not least, if you aren’t seeing what you are looking for here, we offer custom letterpress and edge painting ink mixes! Ask your local Dauphine Press exclusive retailer for more information if you are interested in a color customized just for you.
We’re excited to introduce you to one of our long-time favorite vendors. Her work is just too gorgeous not to share! We have worked with Georgia Deaver Calligraphy & Illustration for many years and many wedding seasons. In fact, she hand calligraphed our logo!
In addition to our logo, Georgia has helped us create some of our favorite Dauphine Press projects (details of our latest collaboration coming soon!) as well as numerous wedding suites, envelope addressing, corporate projects, logos and branding for several of our clients. Some of us (raising hand!) have also used her for many personal projects. She truly is the best of the best and all of us at Dauphine Press have long been in awe of her skills and ability to create any style — the finished product never disappoints.
Today we wanted to share images of her work. Some of which you may recognize from our recent style shoot and photographs from our brand new invitation gallery. We also have more bridal related projects coming up with Georgia so we thought an introduction was appropriate. Stay tuned for more details.

After falling in love with blind hits (designs impressed into the paper using no ink), we got to thinking that a light tonal effect might give a bit more pop to our letterpress printed art while maintaining that soft and elegant look that our brides often look for.
While developing our Vizcaya invitation design, we decided to create something new—our Varnish ink, which offers a whisper of color and takes a tonal effect on any color paper. After its introduction in our Coral line last year we’ve seen bride’s using it in many of our other invitation designs with stunning results.
Very versatile Varnish works great for large, bold designs, but can add just enough detail to images that might be too delicate for a blind hit. We love watching new pieces come off the presses using this technique. Keep them coming!
When ordering from our custom Invitation album don’t forget that we offer a stunning array of double-faced satin ribbons. Franny is shown above wearing 1.5″ in blush. Happy Friday!
