Designer’s Pick – Auburn

We are very fortunate to have a team that brings creativity and spirit to their work and is invested in providing each client with a truly custom design. Through our regular Designer’s Pick posts, our designers will be choosing their favorite suites to share with you.A huge fan of wood type poster design, our Auburn suite has become one of my personal favorites. Combining casual and rustic elements, Auburn expresses a country-chic vibe with its use of vintage wood type-inspired fonts. The type treatment is so strong that it radiates a cheerful, fun-loving tone sans any specific motifs. The oversized ampersand acts as the focal point – the ideal visual element symbolizing the upcoming union. Another standout detail of this particular variation is the use of three letterpress ink colors. The intentional overlapping of inks (also know as “overprinting”) and the crosshatch background pattern give the card extra dimension. Auburn is the perfect design for a fun and artistic couple looking to add some color and history to their letterpress wedding invitations.

Recently we introduced a new series here on The Fine Print – our Designer’s Pick posts. We are very fortunate to have a team that brings creativity and spirit to their work and is invested in providing each client with a truly custom design. Through these regular posts, our designers will be choosing their favorite suites to share with you.

One of my favorite Dauphine Press designs is Leavenworth. I remember when it was being created and how much I enjoyed its modern simplicity. The letterpress printed sans serif fonts paired with the graphic border reminds me of the refined typography of museum exhibits. I also appreciate that it is one of our bolder save the dates, which makes it perfect for the stylish couple looking for a timeless and sophisticated design for their wedding stationery.

Designer’s Pick – Elegant Date

We are excited to introduce a new series brought to you by our design team. We are very fortunate to have a team that brings creativity and spirit to their work and is invested in providing each client with a truly custom design. Our designers will be choosing their favorite suites to share with you. Kicking things off is Heather with her pick of the week.

As a type enthusiast, one of my favorite Dauphine Press suites is Elegant Date. One of the reasons I like this design is that it uses typography as a motif. The elegant script feels calligraphic and makes a bold statement. The large format is unexpected for a save the date and makes a great impression to those who receive it in the mail. From a design perspective, I love how many variations I’ve seen over the years, not only with font and colors, but with motifs and embellishments (like painted edges or foil). Whether Elegant Date stays true to the original or is customized, the design never goes out of style. The oversized date not only celebrates the couple’s special day, it has been the inspiration for other save the dates. I also love our other typography based suites.

Inspired by vintage typogrpahy, this custom Volusia from Events blends a beautiful script with bold type.

This fresh take on Elegant Date has flourishes, an all over pattern and painted edges, which makes Calistoga the perfect choice for any extraordinary event.

Pairing bold numerals with delicate patterns, Cloverdale is the perfect way to make a statement.
