The original order came to us from our exclusive retailer Invitations and More, by Bonnie in New York. Bonnie and her client  created a beautiful, traditional design. Knowing that we can work with any supplied letterpress-friendly artwork {for no additional cost!}, Bonnie and her client sent us hand calligraphy. Working with calligraphers is something we do quite often and pairing letterpress printing and the hand of a true graphic artist is one of our favorite things to do. The letterpress printing and deep impression in our premium cotton papers has a way of really showcasing the thin and thick lines of hand lettering. Using our large royal size invitation {an oversized large square} in an off-white color, the calligraphy printed in black letterpress ink really showcases the hand calligraphy.

When our favorite industry magazine, Stationery Trends, was looking for images for their Chartreuse Color Wheel feature for their Winter 2012 issue, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to see what we could do to transform this traditional invitation suite. With just a simple edge painting embellishment we were able to create something completely different – and just as gorgeous! For the green edging, we chose a custom neon shade of green to really give it that pop we were looking for. This version was customized with the reflective gold foil and belluccia script for the bride and groom’s names. This sophisticated letterpress wedding invitation suite was created for a modern wedding, featuring bold palm graphics and layers of geometric patterns. For the couple that values high design, this collection would be suitable for any extraordinary event in an endless number of color combinations and print techniques. Presidio was originally designed in jade {a custom color!} and sea glass letterpress inks with a splash of saffron gold. We are looking forward to its future customizations, as we are sure we will soon see requests for this suite in brilliant foils mixed with an array of letterpress inks. A few we’re dying to print – rose gold foil with blush and champagne inks, gold foil printed on an elegant duplexed black card or in combination with deep teal ink!

Originally designed for Martha Stewart Weddings magazine as a wedding suite, this “vintage with a modern twist” letterpress printed card is an architecturally-inspired design that blends classic proportions with modern minimalism. The variation we are showcasing today was recently added to our website’s Custom Social Stationery gallery. Customized as a social invitation for a winemaker’s dinner party, it features our black and saffron letterpress inks and a black linen envelope liner.

Given all of the requests we received lately for invitations with a mid-century modern theme, the inspiration board details a grand party with vintage flair!
