Designer’s Inspiration {Calligraphy Font}

Calligraphy font for wedding invitations

We see a lot of fonts and scripts while designing wedding invitations each day. It takes a special font to sweep us off our feet! Today’s link is to a new script font that is based on calligraphy by one of our favorite calligraphers, Kathy Milici of 24 Karat Designs. Kathy teamed up with font designer Alejandro Paul on the creation of the new Gratitude Script font. We are so excited for them – and our clients who will be able to incorporate this exquisite font with an overall classic feel paired with whimsical glyphs and ornamental details on their wedding invitations.

We love the name of the font too, Gratitude. We see so much gratitude from the brides and grooms we have the honor to work with. We love the story behind the creation of Gratitude Script, which reminds us to be grateful for all of the big things {like marriages and weddings!} and little things {like how gorgeous all of those thin and thick lines will look when letterpress printed!} in our lives. Beautiful!

Real Dauphine Press Wedding – Elegant Texas Wedding of Christina & Shawn

Sunset ceremony!? Gorgeous villa venue!? Twinkling lights over a single long reception table!? Italian tile-inspired stationery!? Yes, please! There are so many charming details throughout this entire Texas wedding and we are delighted to have played a small role as the stationery designer for this couple.

RW-AUSTIN-TX1With a  soothing color palette of warm grey, soft creams, pale apricot and luscious blush, each and every detail comes together to create a modern traditional look.

The bride and groom worked with our exclusive retailer, Paper Place in Austin, on their letterpress wedding invitations. The front of the invitation included a single color with the wedding invitation wording in a classic mix of script and all-caps serif fonts printed on a thick Natural White cotton stock. The back of the invitation steals the show with an all-over pattern printed in tobacco and apricot. This exclusive Dauphine Press pattern created by our team of designers was inspired by Italian tiles featuring fine details that are a great fit for letterpress printing!

Trend Alert {Unique Wedding Day Display}

Today’s trend is one that we hope to see more of! We love the idea of displaying wedding details, like your seating chart and menu, in original ways. Take a look at this beauty!

The vinyl displays with the couple’s seating charts and menu, installed on this bay of doors, is a stunning way to share these details with all of your guests. And not to mention, make a bold visual statement!

Another great idea reception decor idea is the addition of the lush floral touches that embellish the overall display, like the ladies at A Garden Party added here. Florals are always a great way to add texture and color! We know that you’re always looking for new and exciting ways to display details for guests and this idea really takes the cake!

Wedding Invitation Addressing Guidelines

We love hearing from the brides and grooms we work with about the excitement, the happy tears and shrieks of joy that overcome them when they open a package from us. It’s often the moment when the reality of your big day approaching kicks in after seeing your name next to your fiance’s name printed on a wedding invitation. It’s one of the best parts of our job.

The next step though, can sometimes bring that joy to a halt when you realize you have a guest address list to organize and envelopes to address. Well, we’re here to help with that too!

Dauphine Press Advice on Addressing Wedding Invitations

First of all, there’s wedding etiquette in place to help you answer all of the tough questions you might have during the wedding planning and invitation addressing process. We love that you can always trust wedding etiquette and feel confident about the decisions you make with etiquette as your guide. But, we always suggest that you trust your instincts too. If something doesn’t sit right with you or you feel you have a special case – go with your heart and what feels right for you and your family.

OK, now to the good part! Here are our favorite sources for getting everything just right and feeling confident about putting your wedding invitations in the mail:

– The Crane & Co. Wedding Blue Book is a great source for traditional wedding etiquette and all of those helpful tips are online too!

– Here’s a great link for tips from the ever-helpful Emily Post.

– With tips for addressing and beyond, this Martha Stewart Weddings article is a great read!

– And of course, all of our retailers are a great resource too!

We feel that every step of the wedding planning process should be fun and enjoyable so we hope that these tips are helpful. Happy addressing!

Client Customization – Presidio Inspired Letterpress Save the Date Card
