Emerald City

If you haven’t heard, Pantone’s Color of Year is Emerald. We were so inspired by this vibrant color that we couldn’t resist incorporating it into our New Year’s card. There’s a freshness to it that we thought would be perfect for celebrating new beginnings. Enjoy a peek at our Emerald inspiration!

The focal point of this card is the elegant script in Emerald, while the tapestry-inspired pattern in our Varnish ink adds depth and texture. To accompany these layered elements, our designers created a seal with the date, which was inspired by a coat of arms. Printed on our luxe 2-ply paper, the die-cut shape adds to the tactile nature of the piece.

This is just one of the many ways Emerald can be used to create a custom design. We can’t wait to see what other creations you come up with using this dazzling color.

Ultimate Eye Candy – New Lookbook Pages!

Here at Dauphine Press we are all about two things – high end print techniques and custom design. In the past couple of weeks we have been highlighting a bunch of our favorite new print techniques, but today we want to talk about custom design! Every couple deserves a unique wedding stationery suite. No matter how simple they say they want to keep things initially, every couple ends up putting in many hours on all of their wedding details, big and small.

One of the most important elements is getting guests to your big day and conveying the right feel for your festivities. The design of your wedding stationery is a very important step. At Dauphine Press, we set out years ago to create an experience for all brides and grooms to do just that – create their very own, unique look without having to spend thousands with an independent designer. Using the Custom Wedding Portfolio Design Library, thousands of options are there for you to use at no additional charge.

Our albums include a carefully curated collection of design created by our design team. When creating these designs we take many things into consideration – a true Dauphine Press look, making the most of our print techniques and wedding trends. Even though we take the time to pull these designs together, it is always our expectation that couples will change *something* on our designs. Often times though, couples may be nervous about making those changes since it can be tough to visualize. With our new lookbook pages, all of that worry is gone.

Sitting side-by-side with each suite in our album are hundreds of additional ideas from our design team to help you create the perfect suite for your wedding and special event. There are changes big and small shown. We show everything from changing ink colors and fonts to swapping out print techniques and adding backers, duplexed colored papers and edging. This new tool also provides a visual for a range of budgets, showing that a 2-color letterpress and foil design in the album can easily be switched to 1-color letterpress – and that the results can be equally as stunning.

San Francisco Ballet Silver Celebration

This year, Dauphine Design had the honor of working with the San Francisco Ballet to design the event invitations and materials for their opening night gala celebrating creative director Helgi Tomasson‘s silver anniversary.

Early on in the design process, a stark palette of white, silver and gunmetal gray was established. Later at our presentation of several concepts to Helgi and his wife Marlene, he personally selected a minimalist design in which the words “Silver Celebration” were printed in a whisper of varnish on the white cover of the invitation. We incorporated silver foil on the metallic vellum flysheet inside the invitation, as well as on the belly band {which, when removed, revealed the letterpress “Silver Celebration” on the cover}. Metallic elements were also introduced in the envelope liners, the silver response envelopes and the die cut menus which sat inside each dinner plate at the event.

The event was also a tribute to Helgi’s entire family. Cabernet from their private vineyard was poured, photos taken by his son Erik were used throughout the invitations, and his wife Marlene was honored with a Lew Christensen medal which recognizes extraordinary service to the San Francisco Ballet.

The Silver Celebration was, by all accounts, an affair to remember. We are proud to have been a part of the festivities!
