Real Dauphine Press Wedding – Ashley & Dan

We have a very romantic Real Dauphine Press Wedding to share with you today! We love seeing {and sharing!} how all of the details of a wedding come together. We know that the most important thing to a bride and groom is the unique experience their family and friends will get at their wedding. Creating custom wedding stationery allows us to help all of our brides and grooms create exactly that with the invitation, but you really get a feel for each unique event when you can see all of the elements together!

The couple and their amazing planner Rebecca Reategui worked with our design team to create a stunning stationery suite full of delicate details. From the pearl foil and blue topaz letterpress ink used throughout, to the lace and textile patterns that complemented the wording on each card and the delicate touch of a single Swarovski crystal on the main invitation — the final result is something personal and fresh, which fits in perfectly with every single element they planned for the day!

Kensington Letterpress Invitation – New Design Customization

We thought that a great way to welcome the New Year would be with another brand new design customization! Today’s design is timely too with shimmering foil details! The brilliant foil frame on both versions demonstrate two beautiful ways to present the invitation to your wedding day with touches of modern glamour.

Our Kensington design and the brand new design variation were chosen by blogger and wedding planner Allison at Engaged & Inspired as one of her favorite new designs. We agree with Allison that adding foil stamping to your wedding invitations gives you “a little something extra special” to present to your guests!

The delicate foil stamped border on our original Kensington wedding invitation design is reminiscent of gold jewelry and catches the light like a diamond ring. Inspired by the styles of the 30s and 40s this suite sets the tone for an affair that is stylish and classic. For the variation, we wanted to play with a few of the details to create a slightly different feel, but one that is just as stunning!

Dauphine Press Wedding Blog Post - KENSINGTON

Here are the fine details, with a few design tips along the way, to help you customize your very own letterpress wedding suite!

Ink Palette: The change in the letterpress ink color on the new customization is subtlety at its best! We swapped out the fuchsia from the original design for our taupe letterpress ink. Using a classic neutral gives your invitation a very traditional feel. Taupe is a great, on-trend choice, but the same look can be created with many colors in our letterpress ink palette – black, charcoal or metal gray, silver or gold or a warm tone like cafe or cocoa.

Motifs, Borders and Patterns: We took our own advice when it came to selecting the perfect border for this new design. As we mentioned in a previous post, if you love a design, stick with the overall layout, but play with the details! This new design incorporates a frame with lots of layers. From dots in tiny rows to the streamers of dots radiating to the edges of the card, the frame on the new design variation gives a very festive feel!

Fonts: As you know from our previous posts, fonts and typefaces can be a very personal choice. We have a large selection to choose from, so you can really have fun with this element. We have fonts that range from casual to very formal. The font on the original Kensington design is a modern sans serif that is a great match for the bright ink and glowing foil frame. For the new design customization, we chose a more traditional mix to pair with the new neutral letterpress ink color. The twist with this design is that the body of the copy is in a script and the names of the bride and groom are in a bold all caps typeface. The trend of mixing fonts on a wedding invitation has been popular for some time, but swapping out where the script and all caps fonts are used, is a fun update on this trend.

Embellishments-Banner

We’ve been saving the best for last! The embellishments on this new Kensington design variation really pull everything together. Beyond the custom elements listed above, you can also add on any number of embellishments. You can see all of the details available in our online Design Library or in-person when you visit one of our Exclusive Retailers. Here are the embellishments that complete this invitation:

Foil Stamping: How gorgeous is the blush colored foil on the new invitation design?! We know that everyone is loving foil stamping these days as a great way to add a little sparkle to your wedding invitation suite. Our colored foils are a way to take that one step further and we have an array of colored foil options to suit any wedding color palette.

Colored Paper: To create the more romantic look of the new design customization, changing things a bit from the modern contrast of the bright fuchsia ink color on our brilliant white stock, we chose the London Fog gray colored paper as the background for our blush colored foil and taupe letterpress ink. We have a large collection of colored papers in our Design Library for you to choose from. And, if you don’t see a shade that matches your palette perfectly, just ask us, we can always complete a search for the best match! Tip: we do always struggle to use the word “perfect” when it comes to color since we feel that very often “complementary” colors can be much more beautiful than an exact match. Don’t worry though, along with our Exclusive Retailers, we’re happy to help you select the perfect combination!

Luxe Board Duplexing: You may have noticed that duplexing colored papers is one of our favorite embellishments. We know that color is very important to brides and grooms, so having the ability to print letterpress and foil on thick colored papers is such a treat! We love playing with different ink, foil and paper combinations! The new Kensington design customization features our Traditional Duplexing, which is a double-thick version of our colored papers.

We created our Custom Wedding Portfolio process with every unique couple in mind. We, ourselves, would expect to personalize our wedding invitation suite, so we wanted to create a process that allowed every bride and groom to do the same. It’s also designed to be fun! We encourage you to scour our website {don’t forget to check out our Search By Style feature} and meet with the experts at your local Dauphine Press retailer to get their guidance and input. Once you do, you’ll be well on your way to creating your very own custom letterpress wedding invitations!

Cloverdale Letterpress Invitation – New Design Customization

Are you starting to see a theme here? Can you see how looking at a few of the design details that make up every wedding invitation, and swapping them out for your favorite combination, results in a brand new design — one that is unique to you and your event?!

Today’s new design, our Cloverdale customization, includes a graphic detail that we love using and we’re very excited to show on a wedding invitation and in a tonal color palette. On the original, the pool blue colored border appears to be a solid block of color from a distance, but if you look up close, you’ll see that it’s so much more than that! Backing up a little … we often get requests for large, solid areas of color, and the truth is, with letterpress that just isn’t the ideal fit. Our design team found a solution in our Cloverdale design. Using the fine cross-hatch pattern in the borders means that the end result is a nice, even area of color. Plus, the added benefit is that fine detail. Everyone we know picks up a letterpress printed card to take a closer look and feel the impression — what a treat to find that fun little detail!

Dauphine Press Wedding Blog Post - CLOVERDALE

Where the original inspiration suite is casual and modern, using the cross-hatch pattern on the new customization created an elegantly subtle look that we always see couples loving for their invitation. How fun would it be to pair these two, in the same color palette, as part of a full wedding stationery wardrobe with the inspiration design as the save the date card and the new customization as the invitation. Ooh! And, please let us dream up fun new ways to use this detail on menu cards, place cards, etc.!

OK, enough dreaming! Back to this new design and the few changes we made to create a brand new design:

Custom-Elements-Banner

Ink Palette: Changing the ink palette on any design is one of the most notable ways to personalize your suite. Simply choose colors from our letterpress inks that match the palette you are using in the rest of your decor and you’re on your way to a suite that is uniquely yours. With our Cloverdale customization, we switched the original pool blue and charcoal gray to cantaloupe and tobacco. Both versions use a neutral and a pastel to really make the most of this design. That pastel is key to making sure the large areas of color in the cross-hatch border act as a frame for the most important information on your wedding invitation.

Motifs, Borders and Patterns: On this new design, the same border and pattern were used, just in a different way! This is a great tip! If you love a design, but want to make it your own, just think about how your favorite details can be used in a different way. Taking the same details and putting them on the larger card have completely transformed this design. Changing the format of the card, from horizontal to vertical, also instantly tells a new story.

Fonts: As you know from our previous posts, fonts and typefaces can be a very personal choice. We have a large selection to choose from, so you can really have fun with this element. We have fonts that range from casual to very formal. The fonts on this new design customization lean towards formal with the bulk of the copy in an all-caps font {Garamond} and the highlighted text in a traditional script {Carolyna}.

Embellishments-Banner

Beyond our custom elements, you can also add on any number of embellishments. You can see all of the details available in our online Design Library or in-person when you visit one of our Exclusive Retailers. Our Cloverdale customization features a combination of embellishments to complete this look:

Colored Paper: To achieve the tonal look we wanted to create with this design, the first choice was our pretty peony paper stock to compliment the cantaloupe letterpress ink.

Luxe Board Duplexing: Just like last week’s Broadmoor design, we chose a duplexing option for the colored paper on this design. Cloverdale features our Luxe Board Duplexing, which is our thickest option, and includes two sheets of the peony paper adhered to a super thick board in the middle. Note that the board in the center is white and will show a layering effect at the edge of your card. Some clients love that look and others want to take advantage of that nice thick surface and add our next embellishment …

Painted Edges: Painted edges were the finishing touch for this new design customization. Painted in our Tobacco ink to match the letterpress printed copy, this new design is complete! Remember, we have shades to match all of our letterpress ink colors!
