Store Spotlight – Nolte’s Bridal

We are just delighted to share a true treasure with you today! Michael Nolte of Nolte’s Bridal in Kansas City is one of our exclusive retailers who is creating amazing wedding stationery with our Custom Wedding Portfolio II. One reason we have so much fun working together is that Michael plans events from start to finish. So, not only is he creating gorgeous stationery, he is also designing every detail, large and small, of the most incredible events {Don’t worry! We will be sharing some Real Dauphine Press Wedding photos with you in an upcoming post!}. First up, an overview of some of our favorite details from a few of our most-loved wedding suites we’ve created together:

Dauphine Press - Store Spotlight - Nolte's Bridal

Traditional, classic and elegant all done in a modern way is how we would describe the stunning custom wedding suites we get to create for Nolte’s Bridal and their clients. We interviewed Mr. Nolte to learn a little more about the man behind this amazing body of work:

What inspired you to open Nolte’s Bridal?
Thirty three years ago I was evolving from a career in wedding photography, an event designer, as well as owning both a florist business and a couture gown salon. I was “The Wedding Guy” 24/7. Through the decades I filtered down my talents into wedding coordinating and gown design.

What did you do in your life before Nolte’s Bridal?
I have degrees in Communication and Photo-journalism. I use them every day as I work with anxious brides and stressed out parents.

When did you first realize that you had a passion for paper?
I am a tactile guy. I love super soft expensive sheets, smooth silk satins and high end card stock.

What is the Nolte’s Bridal stationery design aesthetic?
I’m a devotee of the classics but love tradition with a twist. So just a couple of elements i.e. a motif, edge painting, a patterned liner … that gives the thick stationery a subtle “Wow!” factor.

What inspires you?
I really like realistic fruit and floral designs (think Williamsburg, Della-Robbia or botanicals, Mario Buatta chintz.) I am never drawn to modern wedding invitations as I think they look too “corporate.”

What trends are you loving in wedding stationery?
There are several: foil stamping, metallic liners, combination of fonts scattered through-out the suite (as opposed to just one used consistently), letterpress and 230 lb. paper.

What are the must haves for weddings in your area?
I am seeing a decline in the interest of pockets and bows that tie/smash on invitations, but an increase of interest in additional pieces used for the After Parties and Farewell Brunches. Those two phases of the wedding weekend are becoming very popular in Kansas City – having a slightly different mood, but keeping a coordinated look in those invitations ensembles is a nice touch.

And now, check out even more of those beautiful invitations, including custom variations of our Chalk Hill, Broadmoor and Rutherford designs. With design changes like swapping out a 2-color design for a classic, charcoal gray, 1-color design or the addition of a timeless gold foil and an oversized invitation, Michael Nolte creates exactly the caliber of restyled work we hope for utilizing our Custom Wedding Portfolio II palette!

Get the Look – Pretty in Pink

The lovely Natalie Portman graced the Sofia Coppola directed ad (found here) for Miss Dior perfume earlier this year. We absolutely love this look and feel it is the ideal inspiration for the sophisticated bride who loves a soft and feminine feel. The wall of roses offers an array of pinks that make a compelling color palette with varied shades and hues. Nothing matches exactly, which is what really appeals to us — we love to layer and mix colors, patterns and fonts to create a truly unique design.

Our design team envisioned our petal pink and ice plant green letterpress inks printed on our premium cotton stock. With the thick stock edged in bold fuchsia and the envelope lined in a shimmering pyrite, this customization is a great example of how our custom design process can work for any look. All you have to do is pick your favorite design from our collection and apply these details and, voilà! — your ideal custom suite is created!

We love the simplicity displayed in this photo of Carey Mulligan for Harper’s Bazaar, UK. There is such beauty in the limited color palette and composition — one that could artfully be translated into stationery. We are loving soft and serene color palettes for wedding stationery these days, which is what our team pulled from this image. Imagine our soft and cheerful sea glass ink letterpress printed on one of our tree-free 100% cotton invitation envelopes greeting your guests {how about a little something like this}. When they open the envelope, an invitation printed in gold foil on a thick duplexed card in napa stock is revealed. One that has been draped in the most luxurious bisque double-faced satin ribbon. It’s all in the details!

Suite Spotlight – Ainsley Diecut + Letterpress Wedding Invitation

September is the perfect time for a wedding! Well, any time of year is perfect for a wedding, but September is the perfect time for an Ainsley wedding! Our Ainsley design has the perfect formula for a late summer wedding – one where hints of fall are sprinkled throughout the details. As our design team’s inspiration board displays, the salmon and tobacco palette speak a little to both seasons! Salmon has the ability to go light and bright {which is essential for those hot summer days} but is also beautiful when paired with a deeper shade that reminds us all of the approaching season.  And, tobacco is a great neutral to pair with any shade, any time of year. The mix creates an event with gorgeous depth!

Dauphine Press Ainsley Letterpress Wedding Invitation featuring detailed die cut edges

The focal point of our Ainsley design is the fun die-cut shape of each card, which makes this suite unique from the others your guests may be getting in the mail. Paired with a vintage pattern and personalized monogram surrounded by a decorative frame, this suite is fitting for any celebration. The mix of fonts on our original design feel traditional with a touch of whimsy!

A selection from our Coral album, this design allows you the flexibility to swap out any of the fonts or mix up the color palette to suit your event, all while benefiting from the smaller price tag the Coral album provides.

To meet Ainsley in person and view the rest of our letterpress wedding invitations, take a look at the locator on our website to find the exclusive Dauphine Press retailer near you. All of our retailers are stationery experts and can help you personalize your very own wedding stationery suite.

Client Customization – A Traditional Take on Stinson

Our Stinson letterpress and foil wedding invitation suite is one of our most talked about designs. Printed on our Elegant duplexed stock in a shimmering pyrite color, we have seen many couples use this very contemporary design as inspiration. Working with their local retailer, Sweet Paper in La Jolla, California, this couple created a brand new look with just a few simple changes. With our Custom Wedding Portfolio, these changes don’t add any cost to the order — in fact, these changes actually make this version an even more budget-friendly choice! Let’s take a look …

The first customization selected was to switch from the metallic paper stock to our cotton letterpress stock. This instantly gives the suite a softer and more traditional feel. Mixing a classic, neutral color palette of black and buttercream letterpress inks with a fun script font, a completely different look is achieved. We especially love how the black ink balances with the white cotton paper and places the bride and groom’s names center stage on the invitation while highlighting the floral motif and simple border details.

As mentioned above, one of the best parts of making changes like these is that there is no additional cost to do so! The custom process built into every design ordered from our Custom Wedding Portfolio also allows flexibility to fit into any budget! So, visit one of our exclusive retailers, like Sweet Paper, to start the design of your custom wedding suite today and take advantage of the free custom design we offer with every order. You can change the color palettetypefacepatterns and motifs on any suite and there is no additional cost!
