Client Customization – Calligraphy with a burst of color!

Today’s client customization is a great example of how to use our custom design process to create a truly personalized stationery suite and an illustration of how small touches can have a big impact! The secret behind this customization is that it was actually customized twice! Please allow me to explain . . .

The original order came to us from our exclusive retailer Invitations and More, by Bonnie in New York. Bonnie and her client  created a beautiful, traditional design. Knowing that we can work with any supplied letterpress-friendly artwork {for no additional cost!}, Bonnie and her client sent us hand calligraphy. Working with calligraphers is something we do quite often and pairing letterpress printing and the hand of a true graphic artist is one of our favorite things to do. The letterpress printing and deep impression in our premium cotton papers has a way of really showcasing the thin and thick lines of hand lettering. Using our large royal size invitation {an oversized large square} in an off-white color, the calligraphy printed in black letterpress ink really showcases the hand calligraphy.

When our favorite industry magazine, Stationery Trends, was looking for images for their Chartreuse Color Wheel feature for their Winter 2012 issue, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to see what we could do to transform this traditional invitation suite. With just a simple edge painting embellishment we were able to create something completely different – and just as gorgeous! For the green edging, we chose a custom neon shade of green to really give it that pop we were looking for. Take a look for yourself:

We feel the story behind the two versions of this suite are a perfect marriage of what is current and what is always in style. Which version is your favorite? Are you classically traditional or do you like a splash of trendy mixed with your modern? Get the Look – Emerald Paradise

Actress Emily Blunt graced Harper’s Bazaar Australia last fall and left a lasting impression. The rich colors in this photo – the emerald green, chocolate brown and metallic gold – make for a very luxurious feel. Our design team translated this look into a wedding wardrobe using details from our Custom Wedding Portfolio II album along with one perfect custom touch. That personal touch is a custom emerald letterpress ink. Along with all of the colors in our letterpress and foil palette, we can always source custom inks. Just send us a swatch, a photo or the exact Pantone color you want to use. Paired with touches like our gold edge painting, a pyrite paper wrap and a slate double-faced satin ribbon, this fashion shoot inspired suite is sure to impress your guests and be the perfect first glimpse into your gorgeous wedding day.

Get the Look – The Great Gatsby

We have been anxiously awaiting the release of The Great Gatsby movie for some time now and we are thrilled that the date has finally arrived! We are looking forward to enjoying all of the visual goodness the movie promises to showcase. In the meantime, we found even more of the luxury of the 1920s displayed in a recent Vogue cover shoot. Playing Daisy Buchanan in the movie, Carey Mulligan is all about that vintage glamour feel in this fresh color palette from the shoot.

To capture the art deco feel, our team is envisioning our opaque, caramel letterpress ink paired with metallic copper foil on a thick duplexed card in the perfect neutral shade of cameo. With decorative accents like the ironwork-inspired pattern and a pop of raspberry double-faced satin ribbon, the look is complete!

Trend Alert – Rose Gold

Our design team is always keeping their eyes out for new inspiration and trends. As you know, we often blog about our inspiration, but today we’re starting something new {drum roll please} – “Trend Alerts.” With this latest post, we plan to share fresh, emerging trends that we look forward to translating into stationery design!

The first trend our team has their eyes on is the timeless metallic, rose gold. Rose gold is a soft, neutral metallic, which can be paired with other metallics and/or just about any other color. It is sweet and romantic, making it perfect for spring and summer weddings.

Get the Look – Secret Garden

It’s clear that this time of year is a very inspiring time for all of us here at Dauphine Press {we just can’t stop talking about it – see proof here and here}. This piece of inspiration is perfect for the season and a great starting point for a custom wedding invitation suite. This gorgeous shoot from the pages of Vanity Fair features the beautiful Amanda Seyfried in an ethereal garden setting.

This stunning color palette {and overall look and feel} would translate well to a letterpress wedding invitation. Imagine the natural white 100% cotton paper letterpress printed with our wisteria ink and foil stamped with a touch of pearl. The look would be complete with a pop of fuchsia edge painting and a fresh, almost neutral, green {try Napa green!} envelope liner.
