Citron Letterpress Invitation – New Design Customization

We have some exciting news for you, our stationery design and letterpress loving friends! Over the next few weeks we will be releasing a bundle of new design customizations on our website! We love that we get to create new designs every day and we are excited to share some of the latest with you!

The main reason that we are beyond thrilled to share these new customizations is because these designs really illustrate exactly how far you can take your own wedding invitation suite. Through these new designs we will share how a few changes, changes that make a design uniquely yours, allow you to present your guests with a wedding invitation to an event that they just can’t wait to attend. Yours!

There are so many options to consider and we know that sometimes too many options can be just that — too many options! With these new designs, we wanted to outline a short list of elements you may want to consider when personalizing your wedding wardrobe.

We collaborated with some of our {and your!} favorite wedding bloggers to debut their favorites from our new collection, so hopefully you have gotten a preview already! Our Citron customization was a favorite of the amazing duo over at Ritzy Bee Blog.

Dauphine Press Wedding Blog Post - CITRON

In our Custom Wedding Portfolio albums I and II, we have outlined the steps for transforming any design in our gallery into your custom suite. Here’s the list of elements from our design team that make our new Citron design customization unique. You can use any of these details to customize your very own suite.  Here are a few things to consider:

Paper Color: In the case of this Citron customization, the paper color was changed from our brilliant white letterpress stock to our natural white letterpress stock to warm up the overall look. Often couples choose their paper color based on the shade of the bride’s dress.

Ink Palette: Changing the ink palette on any design is one of the most notable ways to personalize your suite. Simply choose colors from our letterpress inks that match the palette you are using in the rest of your decor and you’re on your way to a suite that is uniquely yours. In the side-by-side visual above, you can see that we changed the espresso, leaf and buttercup combination in the original to apricot, celadon and charcoal to coordinate with the new orange motif and also soften the palette a little.

Motifs and Patterns: Here is where you can really start getting creative! You can see that with the Citron customization, swapping out the original lemon motif for the orange motif really changes the guests’ expectations for each event. To  keep what you love about any inspiration piece in-tact, it’s always a good idea to choose a similar motif, like the lemon and orange, and use it in a similar way to make sure that your new design has the same amount of impact!

Fonts: Fonts and typefaces are a very personal choice. We have a large selection to choose from, so you can really have fun with this element. We have fonts that range from casual to very formal. Script fonts are often used for more formal events. We hear from brides and grooms all of the time that they often choose a font based on whether or not they like the way their {new!} initials appear in a certain font. So be sure you check out the entire alphabet!

The best part about all of the elements outlined above is that they are all complimentary with our Custom Wedding Portfolio program. You can change any of the details above and you will not see any additional charges since we feel that these are elements that every couple will want to change so we made sure that doing so doesn’t impact your budget at all!

Beyond our custom elements,  you can also add on any number of embellishments. You can see all of the details available in our online Design Library or in-person when you visit one of our Exclusive Retailers. We chose just a couple to dress up our new Citron design:

Painted Edges: Painted edges were a fun detail we added to the new design customization. That extra touch of color allows you to extend your color palette to the edge of the card. We have shades to match all of our letterpress ink colors!

Paper Weight: We chose our double-thick letterpress stock for the new design, which really highlights the edge painting. With the thicker card there’s more surface area on the edge to showcase the added color.

We created our Custom Wedding Portfolio process with every unique couple in mind. We, ourselves, would expect to personalize our wedding invitation suite, so we wanted to create a process that allowed every bride and groom to do the same. It’s also designed to be fun! We encourage you to scour our website {don’t forget to check out our Search By Style feature} and meet with the experts at your local Dauphine Press retailer to get their guidance and input. Once you do, you’ll be well on your way to creating your very own custom letterpress wedding invitations!

Suite Spotlight – Bloom Letterpress Wedding Invitation

All of us at Dauphine Press are buzzing about the Thanksgiving holiday this week. With plans to travel to spend time with family, hosting large groups in our homes and celebrating the warmth of the season – we are all really looking forward to diving into this holiday and enjoying every second of it. We wanted to be sure to share some of that warmth with you this week with our Suite Spotlight on our Bloom invitation. What better way than to go back to a classic design in a time-honored color palette!

Our Bloom design has an overall traditional feel with a letterpress printed script font in our warm cocoa brown ink. The oversized, offset flourish in bold persimmon gives this design the perfect pop of color and interest – one that will certainly have guests take notice and look forward to an event filled with beauty and personal touches. The presentation of our original Bloom design is where those personal touches start. The cocoa pocket folder and layers of magnolia and poppy colored ribbons allow guests to unwrap this gorgeous package as their anticipation builds.

Suite Spotlight – Tayla Letterpress Bar Mitzvah Invitation

Our Tayla letterpress bat mitzvah invitation design is a beautiful balance of sweetness and spirit! The lovely allover floral pattern, coupled with the flowing typeface adds a bit of sophistication to this fresh and youthful letterpress design. The linear envelope liner, colored envelopes and pocket on the reverse of the oversized invitation add even more pop and interest to this suite.

Tayla also transforms beautifully into a wedding invitation suite. Playing with all of the design elements, like swapping out colored papers, liners and ink colors or changing the font or background pattern on the invitation, make this letterpress suite the perfect starting point for your unique stationery.

Dreaming up all of the options for Tayla has us thinking about this recent post on The Perfect Palette. Color has so much power and we love Chrissy’s blog for celebrating that. Can you imagine our Tayla suite in shades of orange and aqua? How about traditional black and gold? Layers of neutrals would be so stunning, wouldn’t it?

Any of our exclusive retailers can help you explore all of the {endless!} options for designing your stationery wardrobe – whether it’s for a bat mitzvah, wedding or holiday invitation!

Dauphine Press in The Wedding Co. Magazine

Thanks to one of our amazing exclusive retailers, William Ashley in Toronto, a fabulous variation of our Glen Ellen design was featured in The Wedding Co. Magazine!

The publication created a fun challenge for a handful of stationers, florists and bakers and the results are stunning! Each “team” was given a few items of inspiration and the results were combined on the pages of the latest issue. With Bohdan from William Ashley leading the way, {just as he will when you visit him to design your wedding invitations}, we created a modified version of our Glen Ellen design to suit the timeless black, white and silver wedding stationery wardrobe.

Loving the classic feel of the Glenn Ellen corner details, Bohdan asked us to incorporate them onto a large, square invitation card in a glimmering silver foil. Paired with traditional fonts in black letterpress and finished with one of our lace-like, patterned paper wraps, a silver paper belly band and luxe double-faced satin ribbon  the look was complete!

This is truly the best part of our job — seeing one of our invitations take on a new direction to become something personal and special for another paper fan! All you have to do to get started on creating your own custom wedding suite is to get in touch with a Dauphine Press exclusive retailer {like William Ashley!} in your area!

Client Customization – Calligraphy with a burst of color!

Today’s client customization is a great example of how to use our custom design process to create a truly personalized stationery suite and an illustration of how small touches can have a big impact! The secret behind this customization is that it was actually customized twice! Please allow me to explain . . .

The original order came to us from our exclusive retailer Invitations and More, by Bonnie in New York. Bonnie and her client  created a beautiful, traditional design. Knowing that we can work with any supplied letterpress-friendly artwork {for no additional cost!}, Bonnie and her client sent us hand calligraphy. Working with calligraphers is something we do quite often and pairing letterpress printing and the hand of a true graphic artist is one of our favorite things to do. The letterpress printing and deep impression in our premium cotton papers has a way of really showcasing the thin and thick lines of hand lettering. Using our large royal size invitation {an oversized large square} in an off-white color, the calligraphy printed in black letterpress ink really showcases the hand calligraphy.

When our favorite industry magazine, Stationery Trends, was looking for images for their Chartreuse Color Wheel feature for their Winter 2012 issue, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to see what we could do to transform this traditional invitation suite. With just a simple edge painting embellishment we were able to create something completely different – and just as gorgeous! For the green edging, we chose a custom neon shade of green to really give it that pop we were looking for. Take a look for yourself:

We feel the story behind the two versions of this suite are a perfect marriage of what is current and what is always in style. Which version is your favorite? Are you classically traditional or do you like a splash of trendy mixed with your modern?
