Citron Letterpress Invitation – New Design Customization

We have some exciting news for you, our stationery design and letterpress loving friends! Over the next few weeks we will be releasing a bundle of new design customizations on our website! We love that we get to create new designs every day and we are excited to share some of the latest with you!

The main reason that we are beyond thrilled to share these new customizations is because these designs really illustrate exactly how far you can take your own wedding invitation suite. Through these new designs we will share how a few changes, changes that make a design uniquely yours, allow you to present your guests with a wedding invitation to an event that they just can’t wait to attend. Yours!

There are so many options to consider and we know that sometimes too many options can be just that — too many options! With these new designs, we wanted to outline a short list of elements you may want to consider when personalizing your wedding wardrobe.

We collaborated with some of our {and your!} favorite wedding bloggers to debut their favorites from our new collection, so hopefully you have gotten a preview already! Our Citron customization was a favorite of the amazing duo over at Ritzy Bee Blog.

Dauphine Press Wedding Blog Post - CITRON

In our Custom Wedding Portfolio albums I and II, we have outlined the steps for transforming any design in our gallery into your custom suite. Here’s the list of elements from our design team that make our new Citron design customization unique. You can use any of these details to customize your very own suite.  Here are a few things to consider:

Paper Color: In the case of this Citron customization, the paper color was changed from our brilliant white letterpress stock to our natural white letterpress stock to warm up the overall look. Often couples choose their paper color based on the shade of the bride’s dress.

Ink Palette: Changing the ink palette on any design is one of the most notable ways to personalize your suite. Simply choose colors from our letterpress inks that match the palette you are using in the rest of your decor and you’re on your way to a suite that is uniquely yours. In the side-by-side visual above, you can see that we changed the espresso, leaf and buttercup combination in the original to apricot, celadon and charcoal to coordinate with the new orange motif and also soften the palette a little.

Motifs and Patterns: Here is where you can really start getting creative! You can see that with the Citron customization, swapping out the original lemon motif for the orange motif really changes the guests’ expectations for each event. To  keep what you love about any inspiration piece in-tact, it’s always a good idea to choose a similar motif, like the lemon and orange, and use it in a similar way to make sure that your new design has the same amount of impact!

Fonts: Fonts and typefaces are a very personal choice. We have a large selection to choose from, so you can really have fun with this element. We have fonts that range from casual to very formal. Script fonts are often used for more formal events. We hear from brides and grooms all of the time that they often choose a font based on whether or not they like the way their {new!} initials appear in a certain font. So be sure you check out the entire alphabet!

The best part about all of the elements outlined above is that they are all complimentary with our Custom Wedding Portfolio program. You can change any of the details above and you will not see any additional charges since we feel that these are elements that every couple will want to change so we made sure that doing so doesn’t impact your budget at all!

Beyond our custom elements,  you can also add on any number of embellishments. You can see all of the details available in our online Design Library or in-person when you visit one of our Exclusive Retailers. We chose just a couple to dress up our new Citron design:

Painted Edges: Painted edges were a fun detail we added to the new design customization. That extra touch of color allows you to extend your color palette to the edge of the card. We have shades to match all of our letterpress ink colors!

Paper Weight: We chose our double-thick letterpress stock for the new design, which really highlights the edge painting. With the thicker card there’s more surface area on the edge to showcase the added color.

We created our Custom Wedding Portfolio process with every unique couple in mind. We, ourselves, would expect to personalize our wedding invitation suite, so we wanted to create a process that allowed every bride and groom to do the same. It’s also designed to be fun! We encourage you to scour our website {don’t forget to check out our Search By Style feature} and meet with the experts at your local Dauphine Press retailer to get their guidance and input. Once you do, you’ll be well on your way to creating your very own custom letterpress wedding invitations!

Suite Spotlight – Tayla Letterpress Bar Mitzvah Invitation

Our Tayla letterpress bat mitzvah invitation design is a beautiful balance of sweetness and spirit! The lovely allover floral pattern, coupled with the flowing typeface adds a bit of sophistication to this fresh and youthful letterpress design. The linear envelope liner, colored envelopes and pocket on the reverse of the oversized invitation add even more pop and interest to this suite.

Tayla also transforms beautifully into a wedding invitation suite. Playing with all of the design elements, like swapping out colored papers, liners and ink colors or changing the font or background pattern on the invitation, make this letterpress suite the perfect starting point for your unique stationery.

Dreaming up all of the options for Tayla has us thinking about this recent post on The Perfect Palette. Color has so much power and we love Chrissy’s blog for celebrating that. Can you imagine our Tayla suite in shades of orange and aqua? How about traditional black and gold? Layers of neutrals would be so stunning, wouldn’t it?

Store Spotlight – Paper Plane Paperie

When we first met Emily at Paper Plane Paperie, everything immediately clicked — we instantly loved working with her! Because of her her strong eye for design and detail, she has an amazing way of working with our Custom Wedding Portfolio II tools and inspiration to produce some of the most amazing designs! In fact, only a few short weeks after she received the album, Emily was on her way to being one of our top stores. This means that we have had plenty of time, working on her amazing orders, to get to know her and today we wanted to share a little bit about Emily with you.

First, here’s a look at her gorgeous space where she meets with lucky couples in the Newport Beach, California area:

What inspired you to open Paper Plane Paperie?
I have always been a very creative person, and during my wedding planning process in 2009, I fell in love with the customization process when it came to the invitations.  I wanted to use my creative talents to inspire other brides to use paper as a way to get their guests excited for a wedding or big party.  There is no better way to set the tone for an event than through a beautiful invitation suite.

What did you do in your life before Paper Plane Paperie?
I was a visual merchandiser for Hudson Jeans where I created window displays for large department stores all over the country.

When did you first realize that you had a passion for paper?
During my 2009 wedding planning process I really began to gain an understanding for the letterpress process and how the technique is used to create stunning invitations by hand, one invite at a time.  Soon after, I began taking letterpress classes and was completely hooked!

What is the Paper Plane Paperie design aesthetic?
Our personal aesthetic is coastal chic.  Since my shop is in Newport Beach, CA, anytime I can get my hands on something nautical, I go for it.

What inspires you?
Interior design … patterns and color.  I always look for ways that these things can translate onto paper.

What trends are you noticing/loving in wedding stationery?
Calligraphy tied in with classic text as part of the suite adds a nice touch. I am also loving custom wax seals right now!

What are the hottest trends or must haves for weddings in your area?
Tying in at least a few DIY projects has been popular for a while now, but is a lot of fun because it really personalizes the event.  Also, the color grey has replaced black in most cases which gives things a softer, more modern feel. Also, I recently went to a wedding with a ice cream sandwich bar. I thought it was a genius idea for a hot summer night!

See what we mean? Emily is the perfect mix of designer, friend and wedding consultant! What couple doesn’t want to WOW their guests from the first glimpse of correspondence about their big day? Emily gets that and has an amazing portfolio of work as a result.

Here’s a perfect example — this suite, designed for a couple getting married in Chicago this summer {just last weekend actually! Congratulations Roxane and Denis!} incorporates many of the key elements Emily describes as being on trend. Let’s take a closer look …

We love this fun take on our Marinwood trifold and invitation suite, using elements such as the lattice pattern and frame surrounding the key details on the first panel {both inspired by interior design} paired with beautiful hand calligraphy and illustrations by Holly Hollon that adds the perfect personal touch.

The striking design on the invitation, which includes their signature lattice pattern in robin’s egg letterpress ink, a seaglass frame and charcoal invitation wording, sets the tone perfectly for their August wedding.  Rounding out the suite is a coordinating response set with more personal calligraphic touches and a fresh wedgewood blue envelope liner.

If you’re in the Newport Beach, CA area and looking to create your own custom letterpress wedding invitations, you must plan a visit to the studio! If you want to see more of what inspires Emily, you can visit her blog, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter pages.

Suite Spotlight – Citron Letterpress Wedding Invitation

Our Citron invitation suite, featuring a vivid lemon branch, spritzed with stripes and a delicate filigree, is a refreshing choice for summery celebrations. This jaw dropping design is fun and cheerful and exhibits the ideal way to use three different letterpress inks the buttercup yellow and leaf green inks are used as fills behind the vintage botanical printed in espresso. The crowning detail is the mix of layered fonts three of them, to be exact, which are artfully placed on the invitation and accessory cards. But, the beauty of this suite doesn’t stop here! Beyond the invitation card and other letterpress printed cards, the ironwork-inspired envelope liner and bold yellow envelopes make this suite complete.

Client Customization – Yountville Bat Mitzvah Invitation

When we set out to build our Custom Wedding Portfolio, we created it in a way that allowed for all of the designs to be customized to suit any type of event – holiday, baby announcements, showers, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and even personal stationery. Using our gallery of designs as the inspiration and our design library full of custom elements, each design detail can be personalized to create any stationery from the ground up. With this in mind, we have another fantastic non-wedding Client Customization to share with you today.

A fun take on our Yountville suite, today’s design came to us from our exclusive retailer RSVP in Roslyn, New York. Their client was inspired by the large monogram featured on our Yountville invitation, but wanted to personalize it a step further. They chose our large square, Royal size card and our design team adjusted the design to make the most of the space, while still allowing it to make the same bold statement. Keeping with the allover modern feel of this suite, the client chose a subtle color palette. The sweet, wisteria touches perfectly grace the monogram, the painted edges on the invitation card and the delicate pattern of our Dauphine Press exclusive Solage envelope liner.
