Client Customization – Modern Monogram

What better way to kick off your new union than with a New Years Eve wedding!? We love that this couple selected this special date and the details they chose to adorn their wedding invitation. We all know that the invitation sets the tone for your guests and gives them a taste of what to expect on your wedding day.

This couple chose a very playful designs for their save the date card with effervescent bubbles framing the wedding day details. When it came to the wedding invitation, they used the bubbles sparingly on the accessory cards and left the main invitation to make a classic statement. An oversized monogram in platinum foil tops the horizontal oriented card. Finishing touches include a platinum gilded edge on the double-thick stock and a platinum envelope liner.

Client Customization – Foil Floral Wedding Invitation

With the arrival of the new year, we have a wonderful bundle of new Client Customizations for you. We love sharing the designs of our real clients because they often tell a unique story of the couple that created the design. It’s also the best source of inspiration – seeing what other brides and grooms are designing for their wedding invitations.

This square shape is perfect for a large decorative floral spray and traditional wording in a classic layout. Silver letterpress ink is used on for the wording, which is a combination of an all caps font paired with a graceful script for key details. The use of just one color for all of the wording keeps this look classic.

Our favorite element on this invitation is the orchid spray graphic printed in pearl foil. Paired with the brilliant white card, this design is the perfect example of restraint and glamour – perfect for a Palm Beach wedding! The thoughtful finishing touches include platinum painted edges and a platinum envelope liner.

Tips + Advice {A Lesson in Layering}

The Dauphine Press design aesthetic has always been partially about layering. We love creating rich and eye-catching designs; ones that layer textures, color and pattern. We often have couples approach us, wanting to create a wedding invitation suite full of layered patterns and colors, so today we want to share some of our tips for designing a truly stunning invitation!

We’re sharing some of our most popular designs that incorporate different levels of layering. Along the way, we will share our Tips + Advice for making these looks work.

We’re starting off with our Marinwood trifold save the date card. This card is on the petite side, but holds so much design on just these three small panels. The trick to making this look work is the combination of a decorative floral for one panel and a bold graphic for the second panel. Keeping each pattern in just one color, then sprinkling those same two colors over the rest of the design, are what makes this piece of wedding stationery one of our most popular!

Keeping one color reserved for each design element is a trick that also works on our Princeton wedding invitation. This beauty combines two layers of foil. The pearl foil is used for the ornate background pattern and we’ve used just a single color, silver foil, for the monogram and invitation wording. Princeton is also the perfect display of creating texture with pattern. With the more subtle color in the background, the texture created from the foil really makes this card stand out.

Our Roseberry invitation suite has been customized in numerous ways and it is always gorgeous! Our advice here is to select your three favorite colors from your wedding palette and only choose two of those colors per printed card. Then, dress each piece up with a third layer of color that isn’t printed – like the Pool Blue backer on the invitation, the Persimmon envelope used for the response card and the Mustard yellow invitation envelope. Spreading the color evenly throughout your entire suite is the best way to create balance!

You may be seeing a trend here, keeping your bolder elements and patterns to a single color print run. Our Camille wedding invitation suite uses the same decorative pattern, but in different colors and is displayed in different ways on each card to keep it interesting to the eye. This suite also layers the quatrefoil design element – framing the copy of the main invitation, the diecut shape of the favor tag, the smaller frame on the response card and the repeated quatrefoil pattern on the envelope liner.

We leave you today with our Larkspur wedding invitation suite. This invitation displays patterns of varying sizes, which is a good tip for pairing patterns. From a little distance, a fine pattern makes a soft statement, like the one on the Larkspur schedule of events card. In this suite, the ornate, detailed pattern is saved for the main invitation card – which in this case incorporates gold foil and two colors of letterpress ink! Treating the foil like a neutral and using it in the same way on each card (for the delicate frame that divides the pattern from the wording on each piece) keeps things balanced.

We hope you’re inspired to layer patterns and color on your wedding invitation suite. If you have any questions or if you’re ready to start designing, just contact us or your local retailer.

Client Customization – Elegant Letterpress + Foil Holiday Card

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” This letterpress and foil holiday is the epitome of this iconic line. Our retailer, The Stovall Collection, worked with this family to create a unique holiday card that features elegant letterpress, an overall festive feel and a space for their annual family photo.

CC-FLINN-HOLIDAY

This custom holiday card features an all-over pattern of leaping reindeer (featuring Rudolf!) in our subtle varnish ink, like footsteps in the snow, layered under the holiday greeting printed in crimson red foil. The whimsical font chosen for the quote and the family name gives the card a festive feel. All will be complete when the family adds their adorable family photograph within the simple foil frame.

Client Customization – Foil Stamped Timeline Save the Date

Most of us mark our lives with milestone moments and your wedding day is usually a pretty big point on your life and relationship timeline. Using vintage motifs printed in gold foil, this custom timeline tells a story and ultimately invites close friends and family to quite a celebration – 50 years of marriage! And yes, the gold foil was a must for this Golden Anniversary save the date!

CC-TIMELINE-STD

We love to think of visual ways to tell a story. A timeline like this, or a special floral or pattern are all things we can incorporate into your wedding stationery design. This save the date was designed with the visual timeline save the date, telling the story of this sweet couple. And, the invitation, featuring a traditional feel, features a balance of script and all-caps serif font. The finishing detail is the gold edge painting to highlight the luxuriously thick card.
