We all have our favorite creative times during the day, and for me, it’s early in the morning while most of the world – well, mostly my children – remain quiet. With our new “A.M. Inspiration” series, I will be posting images of what currently has me inspired, the exciting new ideas I am dreaming up on those quiet mornings and I’ll share my thoughts on how to translate that inspiration into stationery design and wedding invitations.
We are kicking off the series with a very special wedding invitation suite. This is a sneak preview of one of our new Dauphine Press design samples! We will reveal the full suite in a future post, but I first wanted to share two of my favorite details of this romantic and elegant design – pattern and color.
One of my main sources of inspiration is pattern and home fashion/decor (probably a result from my formative creative years at Martha Stewart Living). Using pattern in my designs has always been a trademark of mine. I also love creating borders and motifs out of vintage drawings/etchings. I typically pull them apart and put them back together to create a new design. At the same time, I try to build the perfect balance of color when layering patterns and borders like you see here with the lavender damask pattern and vintage caramel frame on this new invitation sample.
Speaking of color, this lavender and caramel letterpress combination is another perfect example of “traditional with a twist” that we talked about in a recent blog post. The “twist” in the creation of this color palette is the use of caramel for the most important verbiage on each piece. Overall it results in a soft, romantic feel with a warm neutral used in place of traditional black. The fresh look with the caramel against the lavender gives your guests a little peek into your attention to detail and will have them anticipating all of the other twists you have in store for them the day of the wedding!
Our custom stationery is not only meant for brides and grooms-to-be. This client customization features a slight variation of our World Traveler wedding stationery suite. We love that Sarah and Ross chose such a fitting invitation for The Farnborough Air Show by showcasing a background map and airplane motif for their international event. The contrasting letterpress printed ink colors, metal against robin’s egg, really allow for the colors to pop.
With the help of our exclusive retailer Needle In A Haystack in the creation of this customization from our Custom Wedding Portfolio I, we are able to show you how any of our invitations can be easily transformed from wedding to any event stationery!

We are elated to share with you the exquisite wedding of Danielle and Kyle in Lake Tahoe, California. So many sensational details were captured for their big day from the bride’s dazzling gown to the stunning succulent centerpieces to the breathtaking views. We can tell that the couple had an amazing day and enjoyed every moment. And from the photos, we think it’s safe to say that the rest of the bridal party enjoyed themselves as well!
Danielle and Kyle worked with our exclusive retailer, Folio in Larkspur, to create wedding stationery perfectly fit for their outdoor event. The mix of nutmeg, persimmon and topaz ink colors on our Roseberry design really captures the airy, rustic feel. We also love how they tied in small, square insert cards with circular designs for brunch and rehearsal dinner invitations. Their entire wedding weekend was centered around spending time with family and friends and was filled with many exciting activities, like a welcome party and a float down the nearby Truckee River.
We fell in love with so many creative details that really made this Lake Tahoe wedding personal and unique: the bright pop of color in the umbrellas, the burlap bride and groom signs, the mix of patterns in the groomsmen’s ties, and those sparkling Jimmy Choos (to name a few)! Fun fact: a 15-minute hailstorm passed through just after the ceremony, though the entire day was filled with blue skies!
