Designer’s Pick – Leavenworth

Recently we introduced a new series here on The Fine Print – our Designer’s Pick posts. We are very fortunate to have a team that brings creativity and spirit to their work and is invested in providing each client with a truly custom design. Through these regular posts, our designers will be choosing their favorite suites to share with you.

One of my favorite Dauphine Press designs is Leavenworth. I remember when it was being created and how much I enjoyed its modern simplicity. The letterpress printed sans serif fonts paired with the graphic border reminds me of the refined typography of museum exhibits. I also appreciate that it is one of our bolder save the dates, which makes it perfect for the stylish couple looking for a timeless and sophisticated design for their wedding stationery.

Our Leavenworth design is one of many about to be posted to the gallery section of our website. Keep an eye on our website as the number of suites is about to triple!

Suite Spotlight – Broadmoor Foil + Letterpress Wedding Invitation

Our foil and letterpress Broadmoor invitation and accommodations card were highlighted in the recent issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. The editors used Broadmoor to show the perfect example of foil on wedding stationery in their article Stationery from A to Z on page 328 of the Spring issue. Their photographers did an amazing job showing the sheen of the copper frame and intricate pattern of the design!

With this recent press we thought it was time to share with you the Sneak Peek into the process of creating this design. As described on our website, our designers combined a uniquely stylish monogram and a bold pattern in our delightfully fresh Broadmoor suite. The foil stamped pattern, chosen for its likeness to a Moroccan gate, lends an exotic and festive elegance. When paired with lighthearted typography and bright colors, this architecturally inspired suite exemplifies modern luxury.

From the start, Broadmoor was designed with foil in mind, but our talented design team has done it again and created a suite that would be amazing printed in foil and letterpress in just about any color palette as well as all letterpress or all foil. Can you imagine!? The options are endless!

Suite Spotlight – Rutherford Letterpress Wedding Invitation

It’s time for another one of our Custom Wedding Portfolio II Sneak Peeks, where we share a glimpse into the process our designers went through while creating some of our newest designs. We love all of our new designs and it’s hard to decide which one to share next, but this week we chose to share the Rutherford suite after seeing the Salmon & Parchment color combination in a few places, including this post on the Martha Stewart Weddings blog and this color palette post by Perfect Bound. The design could work well with just about any color palette, but our designers chose this sweet, flirty combination as a modern twist on a traditional romantic pink wedding.

Our Rutherford suite was created with a certain bride in mind – one who has a lot of details to share with her guests. With multiple cards included with the suite, we took the opportunity to layer those cards with different patterns so that they could be stair-stepped in the pocket fold for visual impact. Envelopments pocket folds are perfect for this type of suite since they provide a stylish way to keep all of the many details in one place (plus, we can pair any of our designs with any color and format pocket fold they have to offer!). We love dressing up the outside of the pocket with more luscious letterpress too. The pattern on the wide letterpress printed belly band wrapped around the London Fog colored pocket fold gives a suggestion of what guests can expect inside … much like this imaginary bride’s event and the invite itself. It’s all about the layers and discovering all of the many details that this bride has planned (for months and months!) for her guests.

The main invitation card features the font HT Pasticceria designed by Ryoichi Tsunekawa of Nagoya, Japan. The typeface is based on Italian shopfront lettering and wallpaint advertisements from the 1950s, which we paired with a textile-inspired background pattern – a perfect fit for our vintage modern aesthetic.

Suite Spotlight – Yountville Letterpress Wedding Invitation

The latest suite in our Sneak Peek Series has a fun and unique history. Our Yountville suite was inspired by a board created by one of our favorite bloggers — Kathryn at Snippet & Ink. Initially we fell in love with the colors and preppy style of the board. We found ourselves coming back to it over and over after having it pinned up on the wall in our design studio. She really did nail it! Finally we decided that it was the perfect jumping off point for a full letterpress wedding suite and Yountville was born.

Dauphine Press in Martha Stewart Weddings

It’s always an exciting day when we receive a call from the editors at Martha Stewart Weddings asking if we would like to collaborate on an editorial design for a custom letterpress invitation. They proposed a vintage look with a modern twist that fell squarely into the Dauphine Press aesthetic. Senior designer Katrina McHugh came up with Vignette, an architecturally inspired design where classic proportions meet modern minimalism. We were delighted the day the piece came off our presses and even more excited when the issue hit our mailbox.
