Suite Spotlight – Ainsley Diecut + Letterpress Wedding Invitation

September is the perfect time for a wedding! Well, any time of year is perfect for a wedding, but September is the perfect time for an Ainsley wedding! Our Ainsley design has the perfect formula for a late summer wedding – one where hints of fall are sprinkled throughout the details. As our design team’s inspiration board displays, the salmon and tobacco palette speak a little to both seasons! Salmon has the ability to go light and bright {which is essential for those hot summer days} but is also beautiful when paired with a deeper shade that reminds us all of the approaching season.  And, tobacco is a great neutral to pair with any shade, any time of year. The mix creates an event with gorgeous depth!

Dauphine Press Ainsley Letterpress Wedding Invitation featuring detailed die cut edges

The focal point of our Ainsley design is the fun die-cut shape of each card, which makes this suite unique from the others your guests may be getting in the mail. Paired with a vintage pattern and personalized monogram surrounded by a decorative frame, this suite is fitting for any celebration. The mix of fonts on our original design feel traditional with a touch of whimsy!

A selection from our Coral album, this design allows you the flexibility to swap out any of the fonts or mix up the color palette to suit your event, all while benefiting from the smaller price tag the Coral album provides.

Store Spotlight – Paper Plane Paperie

When we first met Emily at Paper Plane Paperie, everything immediately clicked — we instantly loved working with her! Because of her her strong eye for design and detail, she has an amazing way of working with our Custom Wedding Portfolio II tools and inspiration to produce some of the most amazing designs! In fact, only a few short weeks after she received the album, Emily was on her way to being one of our top stores. This means that we have had plenty of time, working on her amazing orders, to get to know her and today we wanted to share a little bit about Emily with you.

First, here’s a look at her gorgeous space where she meets with lucky couples in the Newport Beach, California area:

What inspired you to open Paper Plane Paperie?
I have always been a very creative person, and during my wedding planning process in 2009, I fell in love with the customization process when it came to the invitations.  I wanted to use my creative talents to inspire other brides to use paper as a way to get their guests excited for a wedding or big party.  There is no better way to set the tone for an event than through a beautiful invitation suite.

What did you do in your life before Paper Plane Paperie?
I was a visual merchandiser for Hudson Jeans where I created window displays for large department stores all over the country.

When did you first realize that you had a passion for paper?
During my 2009 wedding planning process I really began to gain an understanding for the letterpress process and how the technique is used to create stunning invitations by hand, one invite at a time.  Soon after, I began taking letterpress classes and was completely hooked!

What is the Paper Plane Paperie design aesthetic?
Our personal aesthetic is coastal chic.  Since my shop is in Newport Beach, CA, anytime I can get my hands on something nautical, I go for it.

What inspires you?
Interior design … patterns and color.  I always look for ways that these things can translate onto paper.

What trends are you noticing/loving in wedding stationery?
Calligraphy tied in with classic text as part of the suite adds a nice touch. I am also loving custom wax seals right now!

What are the hottest trends or must haves for weddings in your area?
Tying in at least a few DIY projects has been popular for a while now, but is a lot of fun because it really personalizes the event.  Also, the color grey has replaced black in most cases which gives things a softer, more modern feel. Also, I recently went to a wedding with a ice cream sandwich bar. I thought it was a genius idea for a hot summer night!

See what we mean? Emily is the perfect mix of designer, friend and wedding consultant! What couple doesn’t want to WOW their guests from the first glimpse of correspondence about their big day? Emily gets that and has an amazing portfolio of work as a result.

Here’s a perfect example — this suite, designed for a couple getting married in Chicago this summer {just last weekend actually! Congratulations Roxane and Denis!} incorporates many of the key elements Emily describes as being on trend. Let’s take a closer look …

We love this fun take on our Marinwood trifold and invitation suite, using elements such as the lattice pattern and frame surrounding the key details on the first panel {both inspired by interior design} paired with beautiful hand calligraphy and illustrations by Holly Hollon that adds the perfect personal touch.

The striking design on the invitation, which includes their signature lattice pattern in robin’s egg letterpress ink, a seaglass frame and charcoal invitation wording, sets the tone perfectly for their August wedding.  Rounding out the suite is a coordinating response set with more personal calligraphic touches and a fresh wedgewood blue envelope liner.

If you’re in the Newport Beach, CA area and looking to create your own custom letterpress wedding invitations, you must plan a visit to the studio! If you want to see more of what inspires Emily, you can visit her blog, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter pages.

Client Customization – Sweet Patterned First Birthday Invitation

This sweet first birthday party invitation was for one lucky little girl!  Sent our way by the amazing team at Inscriptions on the Boulvevard in Forth Worth, Texas, this precious piece was originally inspired by our Yountville birthday card design. The original design features a monogram as the focal point and a fine allover pattern accent. Knowing their inspiration, and after hearing the perfect quote they wanted to include, our design team suggested a single-sided version that incorporated the pattern of our Meadowood suite and a delicate border. After modifying the Meadowood pattern from a 2-color design to a 1-color design and letterpress printing it in our shell ink behind a fun mix of playful typefaces in espresso, a custom design was born!

Client Customization – Yountville Bat Mitzvah Invitation

When we set out to build our Custom Wedding Portfolio, we created it in a way that allowed for all of the designs to be customized to suit any type of event – holiday, baby announcements, showers, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and even personal stationery. Using our gallery of designs as the inspiration and our design library full of custom elements, each design detail can be personalized to create any stationery from the ground up. With this in mind, we have another fantastic non-wedding Client Customization to share with you today.

A fun take on our Yountville suite, today’s design came to us from our exclusive retailer RSVP in Roslyn, New York. Their client was inspired by the large monogram featured on our Yountville invitation, but wanted to personalize it a step further. They chose our large square, Royal size card and our design team adjusted the design to make the most of the space, while still allowing it to make the same bold statement. Keeping with the allover modern feel of this suite, the client chose a subtle color palette. The sweet, wisteria touches perfectly grace the monogram, the painted edges on the invitation card and the delicate pattern of our Dauphine Press exclusive Solage envelope liner.

Real Dauphine Press Wedding – Adrianne & Jared

Adrianne & Jared are the ideal Dauphine Press couple! They found us through exclusive Dauphine Press retailer Pebble & Peony in Houston, Texas and created their wedding stationery suite based on our Carneros design. Inspired by the original, but wanting to make it their own, they selected a bright color palette of tangelo and french blue letterpress inks. They also modified the design with the monogram and text centered on the main invitation, which made for a more classic layout. Their version of the monogram incorporates a script font and creates the perfect balance of traditional with their playful personalities when paired with the bold chevron pattern on the envelope liner and response card.

With Alexis’ help at Pebble & Peony, the couple took advantage of our design services and had their custom monogram incorporated onto additional details, such as their charming treat packaging. We offer this to all of our clients. When we create something custom for you, it’s yours to use!

We love seeing everything come together on the big day. Adrianne & Jared were no different — we loved playing a role in their special day.
