Suite Spotlight – Stratford Letterpress Wedding Invitation

Last week we shared the first of four brand new suites added to our Custom Wedding Portfolio II. Today we’re looking at the inspiration behind our take on classic black and white!

Elegance at its best, our Stratford wedding invitation incorporates a traditional font combination in jet black letterpress ink framed by a romantic, detailed damask pattern in a subtle varnish. The “icing on the cake” is the coordinating invitation envelope in a textured black linen with our white foil stamping on the decorative return address. With white calligraphy, this suite is sure to delight guests the second they receive the mail. This alluring design is ideal for the couple looking for a contemporary take on the black tie wedding.

Suite Spotlight – Greenwich Letterpress Wedding Invitation

Spring is the perfect time for change and new growth! We’re excited to reveal the first of four new invitations added to our Custom Wedding Portfolio II. These new wedding invitation suites include designs that range from traditional and vintage to modern and whimsical! We have also added to our custom elements {90 new motifs, 20 new monograms and 63 new patterns} to give you more to play with when you’re creating your very own wedding stationery.

Our first new wedding invitation suite, Greenwich, celebrates the best of letterpress printing by pairing elements that showcase the letterpress impression with thick and thin lines. Details like the script and headline typefaces as well as the delicate, winding frame and surrounding lush pattern, make this suite perfect for a couple set on designing every detail of their wedding day. The tonal color palette of lavender and caramel letterpress inks lends to the overall romantic feel of this sweet design.

A.M. Inspiration {pattern and color}

3.18-AM-INSPIRATION

We all have our favorite creative times during the day, and for me, it’s early in the morning while most of the world – well, mostly my children – remain quiet. With our new “A.M. Inspiration” series, I will be posting images of what currently has me inspired, the exciting new ideas I am dreaming up on those quiet mornings and I’ll share my thoughts on how to translate that inspiration into stationery design and wedding invitations.

We are kicking off the series with a very special wedding invitation suite. This is a sneak preview of one of our new Dauphine Press design samples! We will reveal the full suite in a future post, but I first wanted to share two of my favorite details of this romantic and elegant design – pattern and color.

One of my main sources of inspiration is pattern and home fashion/decor (probably a result from my formative creative years at Martha Stewart Living). Using pattern in my designs has always been a trademark of mine. I also love creating borders and motifs out of vintage drawings/etchings. I typically pull them apart and put them back together to create a new design. At the same time, I try to build the perfect balance of color when layering patterns and borders like you see here with the lavender damask pattern and vintage caramel frame on this new invitation sample.

Speaking of color, this lavender and caramel letterpress combination is another perfect example of “traditional with a twist” that we talked about in a recent blog post. The “twist” in the creation of this color palette is the use of caramel for the most important verbiage on each piece. Overall it results in a soft, romantic feel with a warm neutral used in place of traditional black. The fresh look with the caramel against the lavender gives your guests a little peek into your attention to detail and will have them anticipating all of the other twists you have in store for them the day of the wedding!

Designer’s Inspiration {week sixty-two}

Dauphine Press Designer's Inspiration

We’re suckers for romance here at Dauphine Press, which is why we adore these images of lock bridges in Paris. Meant for lovers, these bridges include thousands of padlocks sketched with symbols of a couple’s adoration for one another. Secure the lock and throw away the key, we will always love this charming concept!

Hope you have an inspiring weekend!
