A.M. Inspiration {pattern and color}

We all have our favorite creative times during the day, and for me, it’s early in the morning while most of the world – well, mostly my children – remain quiet. With our new “A.M. Inspiration” series, I will be posting images of what currently has me inspired, the exciting new ideas I am dreaming up on those quiet mornings and I’ll share my thoughts on how to translate that inspiration into stationery design and wedding invitations.

We are kicking off the series with a very special wedding invitation suite. This is a sneak preview of one of our new Dauphine Press design samples! We will reveal the full suite in a future post, but I first wanted to share two of my favorite details of this romantic and elegant design – pattern and color.

3.18-AM-INSPIRATION

One of my main sources of inspiration is pattern and home fashion/decor (probably a result from my formative creative years at Martha Stewart Living). Using pattern in my designs has always been a trademark of mine. I also love creating borders and motifs out of vintage drawings/etchings. I typically pull them apart and put them back together to create a new design. At the same time, I try to build the perfect balance of color when layering patterns and borders like you see here with the lavender damask pattern and vintage caramel frame on this new invitation sample.

Speaking of color, this lavender and caramel letterpress combination is another perfect example of “traditional with a twist” that we talked about in a recent blog post. The “twist” in the creation of this color palette is the use of caramel for the most important verbiage on each piece. Overall it results in a soft, romantic feel with a warm neutral used in place of traditional black. The fresh look with the caramel against the lavender gives your guests a little peek into your attention to detail and will have them anticipating all of the other twists you have in store for them the day of the wedding!

Real Dauphine Press Wedding – Ashley & Dan

We have a very romantic Real Dauphine Press Wedding to share with you today! We love seeing {and sharing!} how all of the details of a wedding come together. We know that the most important thing to a bride and groom is the unique experience their family and friends will get at their wedding. Creating custom wedding stationery allows us to help all of our brides and grooms create exactly that with the invitation, but you really get a feel for each unique event when you can see all of the elements together!

The couple and their amazing planner Rebecca Reategui worked with our design team to create a stunning stationery suite full of delicate details. From the pearl foil and blue topaz letterpress ink used throughout, to the lace and textile patterns that complemented the wording on each card and the delicate touch of a single Swarovski crystal on the main invitation — the final result is something personal and fresh, which fits in perfectly with every single element they planned for the day!

Suite Spotlight – Camille Letterpress Wedding Invitation

At Dauphine Press we’re fans of seeing a process from start to finish. Last week we mentioned how all of our designs are created from inspiration boards and how we love this tool for couples planning their wedding. We feel so lucky to be in the position of creating something physical and tangible based on an inspiration board that someone lovingly created to honor their union. This is what our entire custom design process is all about! Save the Date cards and Invitations are often the first physical element of your wedding! We all know that your wedding stationery is the first glimpse your guests get into the upcoming soiree, but it’s also the first piece of your vision to materialize. That’s a big deal! One that we don’t take lightly.

We created our custom design process to make sure that you can be involved in that process – from start to finish – and put your personal touches on every element along the way. We love working with our clients, hearing your vision, collecting ideas from an inspiration board and watching a unique design develop. We love hearing from our brides and grooms about that moment when you first opened your package from us, holding your wedding invitation in your hands for the first time – one that you created from start to finish and how the excitement about the big day starts to reveal itself from that point!

Today’s spotlight is on Camille, a square letterpress wedding invitation suite. Camille is another one of our versatile designs that we hope will inspire you to create your own wedding invitation. With its decorative frame and patterned background, this letterpress invitation can take on many looks just by simply choosing different patterns and colors. Take a peek at the path we took for this original design:

Suite Spotlight – Sonoma Letterpress Wedding Invitation

The Sonoma suite is special to all of us at Dauphine Press. It was originally created by our then managing director, Erin, for her Fall wedding. The design was inspired by 19th century French engraving cuts to create a romantic and formal, but not so traditional look. To continue the romantic and formal feel, for its debut in our new Custom Wedding Portfolio II album, the Sonoma suite was letterpress printed in malt and espresso inks on our double-thick natural white premium stock and then edged in espresso. The updated color palette, along with the new Dauphine Press exclusive liner paper in our espresso Filigree pattern, make it a great choice for today’s classically elegant bride.

We can’t wait to see how this design evolves though. The beauty of our Custom Wedding Portfolio albums are that any design can be customized — adding custom foil touches, swapping out letterpress inks, edging and envelope liners — the options really are endless! We are excited to see how future brides update this design to suit their event.

Can you see it in blush and bashful? Traditional black and silver? Cheery coral and tangerine? Modern turquoise and sunshine? How would you customize this design?

Suite Spotlight – Inverness Foil + Letterpress Save the Date

Continuing our Sneak Peek series today, we present you with our new Inverness Journal, ideal for a sweet save the date, ceremony program or destination details. The custom designed pattern on the journal cover is printed in our new pearl foil. We are absolutely in love with the delicate, lace-like effect! The foil is tonal and simple but adds a touch of shine creating a perfect bridal palette. We hope you enjoy it!
