Suite Spotlight – Solage Letterpress Save the Date Card

It’s time for another “Suite Spotlight” where we look at one of our current designs and share with you the details that went into creating the suite, all the way back to the initial inspiration — and finish off with gorgeous beauty shot of the final piece.

As we note on our website, Solage is no ordinary save the date card! With it’s vintage stying and rich tactile spin on the more modern trend of photo cards, this save the date really makes an impression. The richness of the cotton papers gives contrast to the delicate photograph while the antique engraving design, printed in Wisteria and Charcoal letterpress provides a picture perfect frame.

Meet Our New Foil + Letterpress Wedding Invitation Suite – Hamilton

Though we were sad to hear that The Great Gatsby movie has been delayed from its original debut this winter, with the new release date of summer 2013 we actually love that the light and airy palette of our Hamilton invitation suite will be right at home for an art deco inspired wedding in the summer months!

Our Hamilton suite is all about color and detail. Our new Honeydew foil gives a subtle touch of color but a whole lot of shine framing the vintage typefaces and on the vintage French pattern printed on the back of the invitation card. The secondary highlight is subtlety at its best with the new Lemon painted edges and new Lemon Meringue stock used on the response card. We especially love how the Honeydew foil prints on the Lemon Meringue paper – looks good enough to eat! This entire suite is traditional at heart, but really shows off the vintage glamour feel through the sweet color palette and intricate frame and pattern. Bon appétit!

The Hamilton Suite

We’re loving Hamilton since it incorporates a number of the new custom design elements in our album — from the colored foil to the opaque Copper letterpress ink, to the fact that they both print beautifully on our premium letterpress papers as well as the vibrant Lemon Meringue stock. We hope you’re excited to visit your local Dauphine Press exclusive retailer to put your ideal stationery suite together — because we are certainly excited to see what you come up with using our new design elements!

Dauphine Press Holiday Card Inspiration

In our Northern California office we don’t have snowy white winters, but our design team was inspired by “snow and gold” when creating our 2011-2012 holiday card. Starting with the “snow and gold” inspiration, we knew that above all, we wanted to incorporate brilliant gold foil and use our bright white letterpress stock.

Staying true to our Dauphine Press aesthetic we wanted the card to have a vintage feel, which was achieved by creating a border inspired by gold details in art deco architecture and jewelry. The subtle texture of the snow-like letterpress blind hit in the fluffy cotton paper is perfectly paired with the warm gold foil border and sentiment. The “warm wishes” greeting was  by the amazing calligrapher Georgia Deaver in a script inspired by vintage packaging, resulting in a slightly traditional feel perfect for the holidays (or any wedding!). The calligraphy and gold foil are carried onto the light grey envelope completing the perfect clean and fresh wintery palette.

Style Shoot – Behind the Scenes

As promised, today we are sharing some of the details that went into the style shoot for our Carneros and Auburn suites.

First, let’s skip to the end result since that’s what this is all about! Have you seen the amazing shots on our new website? Here are a few more:

Dauphine Press Carneros Letterpress Collection

To start the process we scouted the best of the best in stylists and photographers to help us with this exciting project.

Art directed by our very own Katrina McHugh, we selected Megan and Emily of Enjoy Events Co. to help us with styling, Nicole Hill Gerulat for the photography and brought in Georgia Deaver for calligraphy.

Our planning started with Megan and Emily of Enjoy Events Co. Katrina shared our chosen letterpress wedding suites and our vision and inspiration in designing them. Then we elaborated on the type of events these designs would be inviting guests to. After passing thoughts back-and-forth with Enjoy Events Co. they produced their own inspiration boards for the props and shortly after that began shopping for the perfect details.

Now is a great time to bring up the stunning pieces they sourced from One True Love Vintage Rentals. Enjoy Events Co. has worked with Amanda at One True Love Vintage Rentals on a few projects including planning and styling her own wedding this past September. I think everyone agrees that she provided the perfect furniture for the day that really set the tone of each vignette.

Talking to Megan and Emily after seeing the final results of all our hard work on our new website, they were so sweet in saying: “We loved collaborating with everyone the day of the shoot. To see all of the wonderful props we gathered come to life with the invitations was such a joy! We loved how each invitation had a theme to style around and in the end we couldn’t have been happier with how everything tied together in the final photos.”

In addition to showing the final suites in their respective vignettes, we also wanted to create a physical inspiration board for our Auburn suite. The same Auburn suite used in the casual rustic style shoot above, but this time we had a different type of event in mind. You will see that this Auburn inspiration board reflects an event with a more romantic, traditional feel bringing in golds, a soft palette and vintage touches.

This board reflects what we envisioned a couple planning this wedding might have created when pulling all of their design elements and stationery together. At Dauphine Press, our goal is to not only provide the best artisan printing, but to also allow every engaged couple to create a stationery design that is unique to them and their event. With this visual we wanted to encourage all couples working with us to truly use our Design Library to create a one-of-a-kind stationery suite for their unique event.

Now, to get this shot, Nicole and her assistant Mallory had to get really creative. Not only are they amazing at their profession and able to produce gorgeous results, but they will go above and beyond in a heartbeat to get the shot. In addition to saying a few things that made us blush, Nicole had a favorite part of the day to share with us: “The Dauphine Press shoot was a dream shoot because the stationery, styling and lighting made the whole place beautiful to work in. We are all so inspired seeing it come together. My favorite part was the inspiration board. So perfectly styled – and I was at least 15 feet in the air shooting it!”

We hope you’ve enjoyed these behind the scenes details of this style shoot as much as we enjoyed putting it all together and sharing it with you! We will have more of these to share with you soon. Do you have any favorite suites that you would like to see take center stage in one of our next style shoots?

Suite Spotlight – Rutherford Letterpress Wedding Invitation

It’s time for another one of our Custom Wedding Portfolio II Sneak Peeks, where we share a glimpse into the process our designers went through while creating some of our newest designs. We love all of our new designs and it’s hard to decide which one to share next, but this week we chose to share the Rutherford suite after seeing the Salmon & Parchment color combination in a few places, including this post on the Martha Stewart Weddings blog and this color palette post by Perfect Bound. The design could work well with just about any color palette, but our designers chose this sweet, flirty combination as a modern twist on a traditional romantic pink wedding.

Our Rutherford suite was created with a certain bride in mind - one who has a lot of details to share with her guests. With multiple cards included with the suite, we took the opportunity to layer those cards with different patterns so that they could be stair-stepped in the pocket fold for visual impact. Envelopments pocket folds are perfect for this type of suite since they provide a stylish way to keep all of the many details in one place (plus, we can pair any of our designs with any color and format pocket fold they have to offer!). We love dressing up the outside of the pocket with more luscious letterpress too. The pattern on the wide letterpress printed belly band wrapped around the London Fog colored pocket fold gives a suggestion of what guests can expect inside … much like this imaginary bride’s event and the invite itself. It’s all about the layers and discovering all of the many details that this bride has planned (for months and months!) for her guests.

The main invitation card features the font HT Pasticceria designed by Ryoichi Tsunekawa of Nagoya, Japan. The typeface is based on Italian shopfront lettering and wallpaint advertisements from the 1950s, which we paired with a textile-inspired background pattern - a perfect fit for our vintage modern aesthetic.
