Suite Spotlight – Maybeck Letterpress Wedding Invitation

The subtle buttercream letterpress printed background pattern, paired with a clean typeface in metal ink on our Maybeck design, creates a perfectly whimsical and modern wedding invitation suite. The two love birds perched on a wire are the focal point of the invitation, while variations of the lovely lark adorn the accessory cards and envelopes.

Suite Spotlight – Ivy Letterpress Wedding Invitation

January is such an exciting time of year for us! It’s the time of year when when wedding planning really starts to ramp up! That means that we have couples {just like you!} and our retailers sharing endless numbers of new “wedding visions” with us – the vision that each unique couple is dreaming up for their own wedding day.

We’re a visual group and love how inspiration boards can really help couples develop the overall look and feel for their big day. Inspiration boards have to be the number one wedding planning tool these days! Our designers also use inspiration boards to create new designs. For every one of our designs, we had a particular wedding vision in mind when the design was created. This is what our Suite Spotlight posts are all about! We share with you the inspiration board behind one of our favorite custom wedding invitations. We think it’s exciting to see the full process so we want to share! Plus, if you’re a bride or groom just getting started on your inspiration boards and planning, maybe this peek into our process will help you start pulling your vision together.

Typically, the viewers of our inspiration boards initially react to the color palette featured. When it comes to our Ivy invitation suite, we feel that with the inclusion of the hydrangea blue, it shows a modern take on a traditional wedding color palette. With olive green chosen as the neutral and used for the wedding invitation wording, the pale blue backer card adds pop of color. You wouldn’t normally think of pale blue acting as a pop of color, but our team pulled it off in a stunning way!

Take a peek at the inspiration behind our Ivy letterpress wedding invitation:

Our Ivy letterpress wedding invitation is a true classic! It is a design that is very versatile and gives an overall romantic vibe as well as touches of whimsy with the spiraling tendrils that fall behind the wording. Your choice of font used on this invitation can take this design from traditional to casual – one perfect for anything from an outdoor event to classic church nuptials. The fine details in the ivy motif used on the invitation and note card, along with the vintage engraving design used on the response card, really show off the deep impression of the letterpress printing!

So, what do you think? Are you ready to start pulling together your own wedding color palette and inspiration board? We can’t wait to hear from you and “see” what makes your wedding design uniquely you! Vintage Hollywood Shoot

Everyone loves a great inspiration style shoot — us included! It’s an even bigger treat to work with some of the most amazing wedding vendors out there and collaborate on creating visuals that will inspire brides and grooms with every large and small detail.

This Vintage Hollywood shoot is no exception. Recently featured on Style Me Pretty, these beautiful details are the result of a collaboration with MLKL PhotographyOlam Weddings and Kerry Quade.

Vintage Hollywood Style Shoot

Stylistically, this suite’s chic typography was inspired by high fashion with a nod to the mid-century design. The gold foil impressed into the soft cotton paper is what gives this suite the rich and luxurious feeling associated with vintage Hollywood. The delicate, foil-stamped border and text is reminiscent of gold jewelry and truly catches the light like a diamond ring. The palette is still bright and beautiful — the whimsical, Wisteria-colored, hand-painted edges and a custom envelope liner give it a little vintage ’60s, beach-side flair while remaining sophisticated.

Real Dauphine Press Wedding – Erin & Todd {Part One}

On a peerless Saturday in October, Dauphine Press managing director Erin Shetterly was married to Todd Burns in a breathtaking ceremony at the Marin Art & Garden Center in Ross, California. Kendra Bellah and I were immediately struck by how Erin’s creative genius had touched every detail of the event, from the décor to the music to the signature cocktails. The wedding was a perfect blend of Erin’s eclectic tastes — she shopped the Alameda Antique Fair, flea markets and second hand shops for nearly a year to find the decorations: a collection of vintage white vases for the tables, lanterns for the oak trees, and a vintage mirror repurposed as a chalkboard to display an Emily Bronte quote.

Backing up, Erin came to work for us in 2004. I still have her resume after all these years – it was so creatively designed and presented that it immediately caught my eye and spoke volumes about her attention to detail. Erin has been a transformative force behind Dauphine Press and she has provided so much creative energy which have come to be associated with the brand, like inventive use of color, pattern and typography. When I moved to Pennsylvania in 2008, Erin was the obvious choice to step in and run the day-to-day operations at Dauphine Press. That same year, she was also instrumental in our launch of Dauphine Design.
